Think the outcomes today couldn't have been better. The key cogs did their job, Framber was stellar, and we got the win against a division rival looking to make some noise. And Correa washed out.
Fell asleep after the 7th. Waking up to see that we went back to back against Twerpera is just awesome.
Side note, was at my son's HS baseball game and could not stream the game via the ATT SW app- it gave me an unauthorized error. Anyone else?
It's crazy the opening day win streak began during the three 100-loss seasons --- first season AL Please win another championship(s) near future
He said he wasn't concerned in SP because there wasn't anything to get amped up about. Stros just signed him to an extension so they must not be concerned. Hopefully he gets back up to 95 range because a closer only hitting 92-93 tops will have some issues against elite hitting teams (playoffs). Something to certainly keep an eye on.
Velocity for Dotel usually didn't pick up until after the first month. He hovered around 90-91 before picking up velocity as the season went on. Also reminder that Verlander was hitting lots of velocity in his opening day and only start in 2019...
Does Pena supposedly have an above average arm? I was obviously spoiled watching Correa's cannon when turning double plays but seems like Pena wasn't throwing very hard at all on some of the double plays but still got them out. Hoping he has an above average arm but just knows when to use it. Crazy how many double plays Correa can turn with his insane arm that most SS's can't.
His arm is average to above average, nothing special, but not a problem either. He literally cannot do anything as good as Correa aside from maybe field his position, he projects to be a lesser version of Correa in every respect. It's unfortunate that it's gonna be the constant comparison all year. And he's not gonna be compared to average Correa either, he's gonna be compared to peak godlike Correa that everybody has in their mind.
It was those knee jerk fans and that announcer cucking everyone everytime Ohtani hits one out. Nowhere near the warning track. We good.
I was going to ask about his debut. I was only able to catch the latter part of the game last night. I need to see more of Pena but interested in what the general consensus of him has been. Yeah it sucks cause he's in Correa's shadow and will be compared by that rather than just him as a player
To me he looked a little wide eyed and overmatched offensively in his first game. That’s to be expected, going against a true ace and wanting to make an impact. Defensively he’s smooth and athletic, doesn’t have the cannon Correa has but is above average and he can probably get to balls faster than Correa which helps him with not having a cannon.
