I agree with you Banchero is the guy you get if you got absolutely nobody on the team, or maybe if you had a complementary piece like Cade or Wagner (Barnes and Mobley also play PF). Rox have Green and Sengun who are already ultra efficient scorers, they need complementary pieces like Jabari or Chet. Plus,if a team really want a Banchero like talent why not Ivey? He fills Banchero's job of being no 1 offensive option but can also hits 3s and is also extremely athletic and big for his position.
The other thread is Jabari is a klay Thompson that can’t dribble. Paulo is looking Taylor. Chet is fill in the blank bad skinny player. The rockets are screwed.
Nah. Top 3 pick and we are fine. Not every draft will be like 2021. And 2022 is better than many other drafts imo.
I think with this team and how well this last draft is turning out. Jabari would be the best bet. I think his floor is quite high. With the Nets picks and FA cap space coming. I think you want the sure thing. You should be able to trade for a top player that will be a top 25 player in the league with all of the Rockets assets. Someone with a very good chance of filling a need. When Christopher/Sengun/Green call all create their own shot it will make all of their jobs easier if you have a guy that plays good defense and can make an open shot.
I'll take either of the top 2 way players Chet or Jabari and be happy. Chet is the elite defender. Jabari is the elite shooter. But either will immediately improve Rockets atrocious defense AND 3P% AND rebounding AND spacing, on day one.
I am not, so sure Chet will be an elite defender in the NBA, skeptical about his lateral quickness, and we know he will not be a C so rim protection will be nominal. What is going to be elite at?
There aren’t many that share your skepticism about not moving well. He is extremely mobile laterally. Has really good hip turn and quick feet for shuffling. IQ and length makes up for any lack of elite speed and quickness.
Ok. Not going around and around with you again. We will see what is said once the deep breakdowns are being done leading into the draft. I have not seen him do it in college, and certainly not against NBA level athletes.
PB is the best all around player in the draft… You pick him if you get the chance and it ain’t even close.. He has star potential and you don’t pass on that
He has the length to hang with and elite ball handler with quickness, but yes he will get beat. The best guys in the league get beat, he will win his fair share too.
Not even close. He’s a really good offensive player with warts. At best he’s average on defense. High floor but low ceiling
He will be elite rim protector. Mostly as a weakside blocker. And blocks come from many areas on the court, not just the rim. He will also shoot 3P% above league average imo. And he will devastating in transition, not just grab and go opportunities but throwing efficient outlet passes.
This is one of reasons Chet is elite in this area, speedy players will beat him of course but his ability to recover is remarkable. He uses every inch of his 7'1 height and 7'6 wingspan to bother and block shots even from behind. Do a deeper dive, you will be surprised.
