I feel like you are actively ignoring the elephant in the room, which is the fact that KPJ quit on this team multiple times. Anytime a player quits on a team, regardless of team, they're usually out of the good grace of the fanbases. The only reason he's being excused is because of his talents. I highly doubt people here would be defending Tate if he was pulling off the same stuff.
Wow, 13 pages since 7:19 am this morning? You must have hit a nerve, @Plowman, or hit something. I've criticized KPJ plenty, yet am on record as saying he's talented. Since I just discovered the thread, do I need to read all the pages in-between one and thirteen? Slander! Slander! O, ye of little faith.
That’s a bold statement. Being a team’s fan doesn’t mean you have to like every player of the team, or the coach, or the owner, etc. etc. For example there were a large group fans that didn’t like Harden for whatever reason. Does that make them less of a Rox fan? Not necessarily. To me in order to label someone a JGOF, shouldn’t that someone have a join date AFTER Green’s arrival? If he joined before last offseason, he has been a Rox fan for a while. How can you label him an only fan is beyond me. Now most of us may like Jalen the most out of all current Rox players, because he’s our highest draft pick in years and our best hope to become relevant again. But that’s in the Rox interest too. Why would any real Rox fan hate on that?
@duluth111222 It is ok to criticize, but if the Rockets win, you don't whine that your favorite player didn't take the last shot, you just celebrate that the team won. I just want to win, I don't care where anyone was picked....just win baby! DD
The one criticism that I don't really get is that Jalen Green is "feminine"...like what? Have you not seen how the youth are dressing these days? Kpop? Anime fans? All that is a million times more feminine than Green, who just happens to have long hair and paints a couple of nails (which KPJ also does, and I don't see anybody talking about that). And Al-P dresses flashy as hell, too. Anyway, I'm just incredibly happy with Jalen's performance these last few months and I have no doubt he'll keep getting better!
^pretty much this it's the same reason why teams and fans alike hate players like antonio brown, and why we rockets fans hate tmac and quitten. that first time kpj drove out of the arena at halftime after jlucas was coaching him up, most of us gave him a pass but mentioned that if he ever did anything similar again, that he'd better be out. welp, few months later, he does the same **** but actively on court so that everyone in the nba can see his clown act. was ****ing embarrassing that this guy was on the team that i root for. kpj still needs a lot of work on his game and yet he's never going to voluntary workouts... as if he's some 10 yr vet with status. 50% on fts?!? come tf on... just shows how he lacks the proper motivation and work ethic to stick in the league and be a contributor to a winning culture. given that the 19-20 yr olds are busting tail in-game and in workouts and taking more of his shine, maybe something clicks in kpj from now until the start of next season, but i'm not willing to bet on it.
Clearly this thread hit the intended target, the screeching by the toxic simpletons in the cult has been hilarious. Unfortunately though, I don't think calling them out for what amounts to their religious beliefs will do any good.... they aren't going to change.
Like I said b4 when Mobley folks get called out for their sht takes, it's a defensive reaction for them to lash out with calling folks Jalen green only fans or cultists Booby predictable as always likes to insult folks intelligence when he's has the dumbest sht takes regarding green. Here's a juicy nugget I dig out. He's probably gonna say it's taken "out of context" but u decide folks. @xaos did booby ever agree to bet with u? @Reeko do u recall this bs debate u had with booby? Props to @MystikArkitect
So all of those post were from 1 other poster? Kind of makes my point for me. I admit I have not been keeping up with too many threads, so I might have missed something, but the threads I do keep up it seems to no more than 5 or so posters who have been ragging on Green and 3 of those are just trolling. Then you have the flip side, anybody that wanted Mobley to be the pick is constantly being called out as if that makes them anti Green. Anyway no need to continue to talk about this, it is what CF does.
Multiple guys who can run final plays is a great advantage. When your plan A breaks down (as it tends to do in those instances) these guys can CREATE for themselves and for others. Its not ISO hero ball, its ISO team ball with options playing with unselfish guys and having players who can also provide you the 'bully ball' aspect. This isnt Harden commanding the ball and trying to drive against 4 players and kick. This is one guy who can get to the rim or pass to another guy who can do the same thing. Eventually you get to the mismatch and exploit it there are very few defenses that can defend an offense like that IMO. Banchero initiating with Jalen and Kevin ready to score or vice versa is a huge threat and thats not even mentioning Sengun and his IQ and what he brings to the table or the ability to run PNR with numerous different variations - if they try to lock up the backcourt Paolo could just bulldoze his way to the rim, drop into Alpi or keep breaking down the defense until the best opportunity presents itself. Or you can plant him at one of his hot spots outside on the right arc. You would have guys who offer spacing. Paolo can play great in the post and he will, but he's a face to the basket guy who wont clog the paint and allow Alpi to work and keep the lanes open for the guards. Imagine having 4-5 guys on the floor who could all run your offense and create for others. True 5 out with creation. On defense is where it gets dicey. I think Paolo is plenty athletic enough for his size. He may even stand to lean down a bit to help him, but he flashes plenty of defense in spurts and his issue is staying consistent and engaged on that side. Its why there are a fair amount of scouts and evaluators who feel he wont be a dud defensively in the NBA. You have the option as you say to run some 3-2 zone type stuff with these guys and both can switch on the perimeter in man. Sengun has shown some improvement on defense. He will lose that baby fat and add some lean muscle (I hope!) and come back better in that department. The bball IQ between Sengun and Banchero would be special and would make up for perceived athletic shortcomings. I said the same about Cade last year - that he looked slow and unathletic and he would struggle to be 'that guy' in the NBA. Yikes right! Just my idea(s) on winning basketball - completely subjective. Nothing I post is supposed to be taken as me trying to change opinions. For the most part everyone here is on the same page. Im fine with Jabari and Chet too - they offer specialist skills that you can win with. In that scenario I would like to upgrade from Tate with a bigger guy who can command an offense and create for others (see the pattern! lol). Lets just get some skilled size to add to the already exciting backcourt - moving Scoot to the 3 doesnt help us in the size department. I'd actually like to upgrade from Tate regardless if Im being honest with a player 6'8/6'9 if I could and the archetype would depend on who is selected with our first pick. Id be thrilled with any of the big guys ultimately because I really like our backcourt/wings as-is and I'd want to give them more time together before tinkering.
I just think that fans of other similarly situated teams would be so confused if they read Clutchfans. Like, you think there are Thunder fans going Giddey is too slow to be a star and bemoaning his 25% 3pt shooting? Do you think Piston fans hate on how much love Cade gets from the fanbase? Do you think Cavs fans have Garland only fans that feel that Mobley is too introverted to lead the team? The LOFs were real. They had a racially charged agenda, and Lin clearly wasn't the best player on the team from the jump. There is some crossover as Harden and Lin had similar strengths like KPJ and Green, only there was a distinct superior in the former duo. KPJ had the benefit of being here first and showing off his potential with a 50 burger last year. We just drafted a star in Jalen, and I am happy to announce that there will be many Green fans... and not just from the Rockets fanbase. The guy is walking bucket and a human highlight reel. The Carters, Wilkens, and Morants of the league will always have a fanbase that surpasses geographical affiliation. My guess is that a lot of the fans here believed in Jalen and seeing it manifest is a joy for them. If witnessing that exuberance from fellow fans, after they endured a season full of slander, makes you annoyed enough to label them and declare it an issue... there may be some internalized disappointment in your own lack of patience. Don't get it twisted, true Rocket fans that "hated" on Green are not upset he is doing well because ultimately that bodes well for the team they love. They are upset they were wrong, and want to shift the blame. To bad the internet keeps receipts.
