All 3 of those players wanted out. Cole desperately wanted to go to the Yankees and coincidentally they offered him a deal too good to refuse. Astros in my opinion never even offered Springer a deal because he wasn't negotiating with them. He was content on moving on. Correa may have been the only player that could've stayed but only on a 10 year deal. He may also wanted that to use as leverage with another team of his choosing.

But there is truth in team friendly. If the Astros came out stating they would pay Springer $150-$200 mil or Correa 10 years or even wanted Cole back on a $35 mil/yr deal then perhaps more negotiating would've taken place.

Why would Verlander want to play with the team that had a historical offensive run and a relationship given the money was the same. He wasn't going anywhere as long as we were willing to pay him the going rate.

I'm supposed to go to the Twins' Home Opener tomorrow although it looks like it might be delayed because Temps are going to be in the 30's with a chance of rain and sleet.

Am curious to see what kind of reception Correa get's from the Target Field crowd. So far I'm not hearing much negative from local media and they seem pretty excited by his preseason performance.

Why would it be anything other than great?

George Springer is a beloved Toronto icon

I wouldn't expect it to be either, but Correa was one of the more defiant Astros when it came to people expecting the players to apologize for the cheating. I think he in general is more despised than Springer was outside of Houston. But it won't be near enough to even remotely impact the reception he gets on opening day. I'm sure fans will cheer him loudly.

Lol, Correa is the best thing in Twins country since Torii Hunter. He'll be loved.

He also was pivotal in sinking the Twins in the playoffs on 2020

If I was one of those fans I would be happier that he performed well ( even against the Twins) rather than sucking against them.

Twins' Opener moved to tomorrow. High today is only 37 F with a mix of possibly snow and rain. High tomorrow is supposed to be 42 F. I'm wondering if after a week of this Correa might not be missing the friendly confines of Minute Maid.

Always wondered what the guys who have to play in the North/Northeast during the opening month or playoffs think about having to regularly play in those conditions? Correa playing in New York and Boston in thermals versus MMP surely has to be a factor, right? Also, Marwin told him that outside of the opening month, it is good up in Minnesota.

Four years ago I got front row seats just next to the visitor's dugout to see the Stros at Target Field. It was early April also, a night game and temps at first pitch was around 40F. By the later innings it had dropped into the 20's. None of the Stros looked happy to be there. I made this sign.

Third base coach Gary Pettis looked like he was wearing a diving dry suit under his jersey. When he saw my sign he shot me a dirty look.

A lot of other people there including Twins' fans and even staff of Target Field loved the sign and I ended up taking pics with a lot of people with that sign.

Jose Ramirez signing a 5 yr./$124M extension because he wants to stay in Cleveland makes Correa's rejection of the Astros' offer hurt a little worse as a fan. The Guardians got a great deal and Ramirez is happy to stay and compete.

Also, weird to see Marwin on Yankees opening day roster. How will hypocritical Yankees fans react to that? Maybe Correa joins him next year. He needs to have a monster season to get close to that contract he wants or more than likely he'll be spending 3 years in Minnesota.

He also doesn't have to live in Houston heat during the summer.

Ramirez is a better player than Correa imho. That deal is amazing for Cleveland and hopefully they treat Ramirez like a king, because he gave them a minimum 30%/$50M discount.
