I will never forgive some of you guys for laughing at this dude for practicing his shot after an abysmal shooting game.
Ditto. Mathews is the worst on ball defender as a guard/wing that I’ve seen in quite some time. He does play very good team defense though. But he cannot stay in front of anyone when they iso and go right at him. He’s truly a different kind of awful in those situations. Regarding Green I think a lot of people just don’t pay attention and parrot narratives because it fits what they want to believe. His on all defense has been really good all year and his team defense has improved.
It was a vicious cycle..... KPJ had negative value following the fallout in Cleveland and if I am not mistaken he was picked 30th in the draft due to several other disciplinary measures taken against him in College and what not. Red flags. The Rockets as a franchise had to build up his value for a later trade or in general build up his confidence and render him a better player overall. He miraculously played better following the incident with John Lucas when he shortly left the building although he is still inconsistent. Yeah, it is true, the Rockets come with tons of baggage. And yes, now Jalen Green has to carry that baggage as well as he is the Face of this New Rockets, like it or not. For better and worse. And with KPJ in the fish net.
Main topics for the season (and previous) has been: *Tank *Push trade values of clutter in the way and spare parts *Build up the stamina and endurance of the rookies for 82 games (transition to NBA) Only now that top 5 is truly obtainable are we turning Jalen loose. Not just sticking him in the corner running the length of the court for stamina purposes. There was a joke about Michael Jordan college days: "Only one man stopped MJ in college.....Dean Smith (his coach) Well a few men truly held back Jalen Green his rookie season....Stone, Tilman, Silas, Patrick F. But in the long run hopefully it helps Jalen Green as Tim Duncan helped David Robinson. Addition of Jabari, Chet, Banchero, Ivey should help alleviate Jalen Green as the total focal point of every defense next season. MJ needed Pippen/Kukoc **and I prefer Jabari. Should be a perfect fit on this team as slides over from SF to PF if C Wood exits after next season or before.
I thought this was very interesting: Green has the second highest late shot clock 3 pt percentage in the league only behind Embid for players with more than 50 attempts. What's funny is that Harden has the most late shot clock 3 pt attempts and has an abysmal 24% rate for them. Green just had that it factor when it comes to clutch time shot making.
From a Mobley fan in March about green On can Jalen reach..... thread. I just hope that one day he becomes a replacement level NBA SG.... maybe even one day developing into a starting caliber NBA SG if I'm being optimistic. Too many sht takes from this poster.
Mobley people and KPJ fans were just laughing that Green was even shooting. Saying it wouldn't matter. stuff like that. This was coming off one of his worst shooting games though. tensions were high, "I told you so's" were being flung left and right.
Matthew also has the ungodly ability to get beat off the dribble, be out of position and then do a frustration foul to reward them with the And-1. Just such low bball IQ habits. His ability to draw charges gets evened out by his bad defense.
I'm glad Green is so low on that list. More motivation for the offseason. And also Scottie Barnes should be #1 and win it.
This is an amazing and impressive stat. Jalen has low touches, but the highest scoring on those touches and he’s efficient. Considering the difficulty of shots he takes and that he generates a lot of his own offense, I’m very excited about this. Kuminga and Wagner pop too, but obviously Kuminga is benefiting from being assisted by great players and a great system. I admittedly don’t watch the Magic much so I don’t know what to make of Franz, but I’ve watched highlights and he looks a lot better than I expected.
I think he's maybe built up enough good will for a bad game or two... But they are ready and waiting with the pitchforks..
Rockets should've been all over that before the season even started. Not sure is GS was interested, but I felt they got a huge steal in Kuminga.
