Don't do much music anymore, but if I'm throwing a party, some of my younger friends ask to get on the bluetooth. If they play any Cardi B, they're revoked from playing.
We've actually played I Ran. I started playing it acoustically and lyrics aside it sounds like a traditional Celtic tune.
A little different for us. We have a **** ton of songs in almost all genres to choose from, so our bandleader sends it to the client ahead of time and lets them pick and choose their setlist. They can be as specific or non-specific as they want. Once we are at the gig, the setlist is pretty much set in stone. So we don't do requests unless it's from the PAYING client and it's already in our repertoire. Our sets are designed so that we don't stop in-between songs, we just transition into the next song - sometimes before the previous song is even over. We use in-ear monitors and our bandleader will just tell us how to end one song and begin the next song on the fly. A lot of hand signals too, James Brown style. Definitely keeps us on our toes! But to answer the question - we don't do any Gloria Estafan or YMCA unless the client specifically requests it ahead of time (which we hate).
