He still looks unexplosive/fatigued compared to his tape out of Spain. Keep playing him heavy minutes...
He looks very slow. Plodding almost. He needs a really good off-season and to just start over fresh next year. The eye test right now ain’t looking too good!
I do hope to see more athleticism return, but he showed plus rebounding instincts and seemed to do a better job of keeping the ball moving today.
I think Garuba is, at worst, the backup 5. I think he can be a defensive chess piece in that role. Developing a corner 3 would be a cherry on top.
**** the Garuba haters. What he couldn't do in offense, he made up in other areas which is why I love this kid. I'm not expecting him to be an offensive weapon for this team, but love his contributions in other areas when we need him.
For him to be more than average, he needs to be a Forward, imo. I wish Silas would play him next to Fernando.
I thought he looked fine. Knew his role and stuck to it. We need more defense and rebounding and he provided it. By the way, he had the second highest +/- at +12.
this is why Garuba is a perfect fit for this team - he was a +12 without looking for offense at all. He was fine just screening for Jalen, playing defense, getting rebounds, passing to open players. If they leave him open, Garuba is not scared to take a 3 point shot. Garuba understand the hierarchy
I disagree. watch Uzi in the 4th, he was running full speed after every loose ball and change of possession. This is fat Garuba doing this.
He has the same problem as Nix, he's afraid of the basketball. Just put the ball up with authority ffs. He'll learn.
Agreed. Nix and Usman are a bit in their own heads at the moment. Psyching themselves out. Someone shake them. Do they not realize what an opportunity this is???
Garuba was borned in Madrid! He definitely needs to work on his finishing abilities to become playable. He's gonna be fine defensively with time, repetitions, getting used to the NBA refereeing and playstyle, but needs to be dependable for the guards once they pass him the ball. He's a good reader and passer, sets good screens, plays off the ball, will run the court, fight the rebounds, do the hustle game, but if he's that bad at finishing the Brunos will eventually be ahead of him. In short, if he can improve that and his perimeter shooting he will be a solid winning player. If not, he will turn out to be a bad pick and an overall dissapointment as a player. But he's a 20 y.o. rookie, deserves a chance to adjust and develope his offensive game.
