Actors have been blacklisted from Hollywood for being an angry black (wo)man.

Will was crying because he was worried about getting Aunt Viv'd, the first one he helped ruin the career of.

It took 6 years of Oscars so white to get to this point again and this **** happens.

I can't see how this doesn't blow up as a race thing even more.

Academy should make an example out of Will, maybe a three year ban plus some (unspoken but spoken) act of penance so randos don't complain how he became a victim after a few years and forget what Chris went through for making jokes.

    Not punishing makes it worse.

No, I find silly that grown men are getting into their feelings over this.

    It's pretty irrational to me.

I have nothing to gain from rocking with Will nor Chris. I surely don't agree with the title of thread or deem worthy for 240 replies.

Will's penance should be to attend a Chris Rock roast...as the guest of honor.

He resigned so unless the Academy invites him again, he is staying home. A ban is moot now.

    yes he kinda pre-empt it.

Will knows what we he did was wrong. There really shouldn't been "two sides", it was pretty clear who was the victim.

When it went down, I was like he's going to regret this.

No doubt he'll continue to work, but 30+ years of acting résumé, mostly of that a squeaky clean image, forever blemished.

Why would he resign from the Academy if it wasn't real?

Some major conspiracy to boost ratings at his own expense in exchange for an Oscar? I guess

Just don't make Rock the hero because he kept his cool. What he made Jada feel, whether we agree or not if she should have felt it, is technically harassment. She felt bad. On a big night for her no less. With the spot lights on. And that matters.

I'm close to the same age as Will. Watched him since his "Parents don't understand" days.

Something changed in his persona when he got with Jada. She has to go.

The sooner he realizes it, the sooner he moves on. NOBODY cares about Jada.

Exactly and speaking of ratings, it's the 2nd worst ratings in Oscar history lmao.

No one deserves to be assaulted at their job. Rock is a comedian and unless he knew of Jada’s medical condition, what he did was harmless and worthy of an apology to Jada after.

I will agree though if Rock knew that was a pos joke.

Chris Rock once did a whole show on celebrating black women's hair. He knew. It was in poor taste.

It was great that Will wanted to defend his woman ...but he went nuclear. I'm sure even Jada is now thinking, thanks but no thanks.

Good Hair was more of an expose on how crazy that industry is.

Well, the point being, he can't claim ignorance about the significance of black women's hair. He knew. He deserved it.

That said, slapping Chris on live tv was just a little bit over-the-top.

It was not about 'Good Hair'. The show itself will continue to run its course.

I think the person just wonders why someone who is interested in hair is making that kind of joke......but okay.
