Again that's his problem. No mental gymnastics about anything. Hypocrisy. I wouldn't have hit anyone on stage for a joke. I don't actually care or wasting any kind of emotional energy on someone's manhood, woman hood, or lack thereof.

Don't need to insult an individual or group. Indifferent.

No need to go overanalyze his psyche.

    1. He is not totally right in his head, needs therapy
    2. Jada holds a voodoo spell over him.

    3. He's got some street thug in him.
    4. IMO it was a cheap joke, Chris Rock could do much better.

I get your point and I respect that. Chris Rock was a presenter, hired by the academy board members at an award shows about movies. He made a joke about G.I Jane, a movie, at the Oscars which is about movies, that's the correlation and nothing more. Demi Moore had a shaved head because she was enlisted in the military. that's the connection and nothing more. That's kind of what Chris is there to do, a comedian doing his job. You talking about public places, the dudes who got slapped, were they comedians? That's an entirely different situation all together.

I am by far not a Jada simp but there is a clear distinction.

Demi shaved her head for a job, the woman she portrayed shaved her head because she wanted to rise thru the ranks of a male dominated military system.

While Jada shaved hers because she had a medical condition which is not life threatening to be fair but she is passive in this, she got not much other choice.

The joke obviously targeted her appearance and most likely her gritty personality as well.

But yes, he forgot to do his research.

In this Woke world you are just in for trouble if you don't.

It's not the comedians job to know someone's medical condition. They just tell jokes.

    Just picture that situation.

Me during a coffee break and I crack a sleazy joke at a woman's expense or a bad joke about someone's hidden medical condition.

I might have gotten away with that shet 10 or 20 years ago if I am high up in the food chain but I would be exposed on social media today. #Me2....

The only reason this joke is not being discussed is because Will's action was far worse and overshadowed it.

Times change. I got that he is a comedian and again these times are impacted by people that are sensitive.

In this type of time we should be more cautious with each other. That is all.

This is the part, I really don't think people comprehend to well. Even, just about comedy in general. Comedy is not always just about telling jokes. It could be play, commentary, satire, or any number of things. Also, they have their own audience.

I think people feel like just because a person is comedian, sort of makes them objective and fair, by default. Which is not true, any comedian, just like any other performance artists or artists in general can make it well known about how they feel about certain or particular topics. And, be quite biased.

People criticize films, TV shows, plays, musicals, and artwork, all of the time for their content (not necessarily the production values). Critics criticize artwork to point that it might destroy young artists' ambition to even pursue the passion in anymore. Oftentimes, I can say these factors, people do respond or react to things, more than it needs to be. People have boycotted movies and TV shows, e.g. the Last Passion of Christ or Cuties, pretty good examples. Silent Night, Deadly Night. For very pedantic reasons, I disagree with, but I guess those people see the troubles in speaking out against.

Don't get me started on literature. There are so many book bannings and burners, right now. I cannot even process that in 2022.

Another reason, the whole Rock and Smith thing, doesn't register on my radar. Because, I don't know what has transpired with them behind the scenes or over the years. I don't know what kind of dealings or etc, they've had with each other. ALso, considering it's not Chris's first time making jokes about Jada at the Oscars. May be part of that dynamic. It's probably beef or resentment, somewhere that's linger between the two. I don't think this is the first time they've butted heads. It's almost like I'd speculating about two people's relationships.

I could make string of successful plays about Blue people, and show them in the worst and most awful light. No one says anything to me, unless a person or an actual blue person comes to me and asks me, "Do you have something against blue people?" That answer could go 1,000 ways, but I do have to assume why would someone ask me that question. Furthermore, if I say anything detractive about blue people, they could form all sorts of conclusions about that. Even to point, where more Blue people stop watching or supporting my plays, because of its content.

Would these people be in the wrong for not supporting my content or criticizing it?

I should say this to people, by default from all of this, we should support pro-White or Nazi comedic material, because remember they are only using comedy and telling jokes. They haven't done anything wrong to anyone.

Something needs to happen to him. He should be out of the academy and definitely out from making movies for at least a while.

I expect this will ALL be explained in the Lifetime movie about Will Smith...which will now be greenlit to be made because of this incident. If we can see his life on screen, then we can better understand his motives and break. o_O

    1. Ok, what does that accomplish? Also, how is that set precedence for anything? For something, that only happened once. If we are punishing bad behavior, the Oscars would be a quarter empty.

    2. He has his own production company, and he's been making his own films. Even if the big studios shut him out, he could easily work for independent production or a smaller tier company, locally or internationally. Still, can sell internationally and streaming.

If a coworker comes up and slaps you at work in front of everyone - I am sure you will say, "Hey don't fire the guy, what does punishing bad behavior do?" Dude, he didn't do it while out grabbing a drink - he did it AT THE OSCARS. They have one night - one night of the whole year - and he decided to walk up stage and hit someone without regards to anyone else. Yeah, he should be out of the Academy and I can't understand how your argument makes any sense. You don't tolerate violence if you are the Academy.

As for him making movies, even with your own production company, it takes a lot more than having a production company to make a movie. So if he can overcome those obstacles and do it, more power to him.

    1. True, not disagreeing. Ban him from the Oscars (the same Oscars that no one wanted to watch or was too woke), but what if he has another Academy worthy role. Would you say you can omit from the conversation, because at that point is the award about an "image" or "achievement." The problem with punishing Will, is he's already an established star. "You'll never be invited to the Oscars, again." "Ok." Pretty much, got what he wanted to send his career off into the sunset ... an Oscar. Some actors would be obsessed with that, but I don't think he'd be hurting from that. He's already past threshold of big box office star. That's something alot of Oscar winners and hopefuls are trying to do.

You could take away his award, but that would take away from the integrity of the work, award, and performance.

As, I said, not coming from me. But, people would be critical of decision, because they'll bring Polanski (child rape charges), Weinstein (if he got out of jail) or C. Affleck (domestic violence/abuse). Where would a line be drawn.

    2. As for him making movies, even with your own production company, it takes a lot more than having a production company to make a movie. So if he can overcome those obstacles and do it, more power to him -- He has one that is actively making films and TV shows. A production company involves hundreds, if thousands of workers. It's not like some little startup company in Kansas. It's a company that has already set its foot in the marketplace. Even, a studio decided not to do business with him, for that, his company has other options, and others would definitely jump at the opportunity. If you've spent one minute in the industry, there is such a thing as too big to fail.

All you are suggesting is an outrage punishment that would do very little.

I don't understand that last comment at all.

You have a coworker, they show up to work and punch you for doing your job because they didn't like the way you were doing it. What happens? The guy gets fired. Is that an outrage punishment that would do very little?

Why do celebrities get some kind of protection and special treatment? No. You commit violence in your profession than you should be fired from the organization - minimum. That's standard. Nothing to do with punishment or outrage. Companies and organizations do that all the time.

I get it, Will Smith is beloved. But he also is clearly a violent man not in control of his emotions. Let him keep his Oscar, but no, he should never be invited back. That's just a no brainer.

The academy isn't the one helping with jobs.

    The Screen Actors Guild is.

He can produce and act in his own movies.

    That's right.

Johnny Depp was just doing that, smaller movies.

I think only Roman Polanski and another dude Weinstein are perma banned from the Oscars.

We know what Polanski did to deserve that.

It is still Night and Day.

He probably gets a ban for the next ceremonies but he would send a rep if he was going to be nominated again.

You realize people have been making that argument about certain celebrities, movie stars, and producers for decades. It did happen in front everyone, again that's not doubt. The Oscars/Academy Awards is not an employer ... Will Smith is an independent contractor, more or less. He won his Oscar. So, how are you punishing him? His name still goes down in the record books. It's almost like banning LeBron James from the NBA Finals or Tom Brady from the Super Bowl. It would look bad for their legacy, momentarily. But, their accomplishments are so overwhelming, it would quickly evaporate the situation.

Banned from the Oscars, forever. But, he has an Oscar, movie star status, and box office records. He hasn't been making as many movies as he has in the pass. He's been making less and less over the last decade.

He doesn't get to come back to an event, that people have more or less stop watching to begin with.

It's funny how people were bad mouthing the Oscars being boring and self-congratulatory. And, being irrelevant. And ... *woke*. Especially, ... **cough** ... Fox...**cough** News, being concerned about the violence. Now, it's the most sacred event in American history.

I still don't give two s#its. Will still has his status and wealth, same for Chris Rock. So, do the Oscars.

It doesn't concern me one bit or put anything in my plate.
