Great trade for you guys even if he is just a rental. You get a great all around player well before the trade deadline to help you nock the cubs out of the playoffs:) Being a Boras client its going to be interesting resigning him but if he likes it in Houston it will be easier.

Lidge will easily replace Dotel and be a great closer. The guy has nasty stuff.

AP: Beltran said to be traded to Astros

    By RONALD BLUM
    AP SPORTS WRITER

Kansas City outfielder Carlos Beltran was told by the Royals on Thursday that he is being traded to the Houston Astros, The Associated Press learned.

Beltran, the biggest prize on the trade market, was informed of the deal by Royals general manager Allard Baird, a person close to Beltran said on the condition of anonymity.

The deal is believed to be a three-way trade that also includes the Oakland Athletics, possibly involving reliever Octavio Dotel. Baird did not give Beltran the details of others in the deal, the source said.

Oakland said it would have a conference call later Thursday but did not announce the subject.

    Even the Chronicle is conflicted:

It's official: Beltran to Houston; Dotel on his way to Royals

Kansas City Royals center fielder Carlos Beltran is on his way to Houston tonight and the Astros sent closer Octavio Dotel to the Oakland Athletics

Damn, I have Dotel on my fantasy team. I want him in Oakland!

I'd be surprised if it's not between Lane and Palmeiro. My guess is Palmeiro gets waived.

Gerry just said on the Astros telecast that this is likely the last year that they keep this "group" together.

Dotel will be going to the A's. The Royals don't need him, they have Affeldt as their closer.

I know Kent said he doesnt want to move to third but that would be what I would want. We have two third baseman that arent getting it done and Lane that is.

    Lineup???

    Beltran
    Everrett
    Berkman
    Kent
    Bagwell
    Biggio
    Lane
    Ausmus

    Biggio
    Everett
    Berkman
    Kent
    Beltran
    Bagwell
    Lane
    Ausmus

I can't believe Gerry and Drayton did this!:)

Mainly because i said he wouldn't trade for a rental player again. I guess we are really going all out this year like 1998. So much for Lane getting playing time....lol:)

Kent's bad enough defensively at 2nd, I can't see him at 3rd. Same with Biggio. I don't think either have the arm to play 3rd either.

This is cool, but it doesn't make up for losing out on TMac, which I think is going to happen now that Orlando acquired Jameer Nelson.

Dude, settle down, Jameer Nelson is not that great. SF3 is way better and when the trade goes down, they are going to have to have a back up point guard. You have posted the same **** in several different threads. Chill the **** out.

Don't know if this means anything, but:

"He's the prototype we've been looking for for a long time. He's going to be a very exciting force for us in the middle of our lineup," Hunsicker said.

Sorry for three posts in a row.

Hunsicker once again pulling out the best available guy midseason.

When he decides to go out and get somebody, look out league.

    The man is money.
