I think Dream better pick up that phone soon or he might find his name scrolling at the bottom of the ESPN screen with the word "renounced" next to it.

I saw this too....I think his words were.."the Rockets have made a very strong offer to Antonio Davis." This is putting pressure on the Magic..that was sorta the angle of the story.

I think if the Rocks have a chance to get Antonio Davis, they'll renounce the rights to Hakeem quicker than you can say Nigeria.

If they Rockets can get Davis for a reasonable number of years (5 or less) and still afford to re-sign Taylor, Norris and Anderson, I would sign him today! Toronto has been stubborn about sign-and-trades and I've even heard some teams (including the Rockets) have been unwilling to discuss sign-and-trades with them for fear they will use it to bargain with other suitors.

The most interesting part of this is that Davis will more than likely have to take less money than Toronto could offer just for the priveledge of playing in the good ol' US of A. Canada gets shafted again. [IMG]

I hated Toronto for leaking the info. I really felt we could have gone very far w/ Damon.

Of course we have Wink, so. [IMG]

Antonio Davis is 33 years old.

Do we wanna give him 5 years? He's not young either.

IMO Toronto is nuts if they don't want Outlaw, Amaechi and Haywood. None of these guys are as good as Davis but Outlaw gives them a legit PF in the East and Haywood could turn into something of a player if someone could motivate him. They are going to loose a 33 year old undersized center anyway they might as well get some value for him.

Hell, just posted this on another thread, but...

    From BskBALL.com:

07/10-MAGIC QUIT ON AD- While Antonio Davis was a player the Magic deeply coveted, he will join Tim Duncan as one of the ones that got away, but unlike Duncan, the Davis situation will end by the Magic's choice. After spending most of the week looking at cap clearing measures the Magic made it clear they would be unable to clear enough space to pay Davis and any deal they could make would cost them Mike Miller, and that was not something they wanted to do. The Magic have been entertaining secondary options, which looks like Marc Jackson and Patrick Ewing. There is talk of a trade with Golden State for a re-signed Jackson that would yield the Warriors Bo Outlaw and a future #1, allowing the Magic to land Jackson and still have their exception to add Ewing. This is far from a done deal, as the Magic are still exploring other options in trade, as several teams are looking to clear some space, and may make the Magic a better deal for Outlaw.
