Probably the best comment of the thread. I think people are waaaaay over thinking this and exaggerating it. People get smacked all the time at parties, clubs, bars, whatever.
I honestly think Rock thought it was an improvised bit, looking at it again he seems to think its funny like "Oh, good one Will!" then Will starts screaming at him and he realizes that was a real smack and he jumps out of jester mode the moment Will starts screaming at him. I mean it was a smack, it didn't have to be hard, was probably more a theatrical thing. Some of the comments are acting like Rock took a Tyson hook to the face or something
Smith has always come off as kind of a bully and a hothead, so this is not surprising. But justifying it by saying he has to protect his family is pure theater. I hope he really does some soul-searching after this incident and learns how to rise above. Only then will he get the respect he thinks he deserves.
His performance last night reminded me of when he was cussing out the alien he just punched in the head in "Independence Day". He really brought out his inner anger. I was feeling it. Five stars! I wanna see Mathew McConaHEY-ALRIGHT-HEY and Will Smitten-TWO-FACE get into a real screaming match at each other. Picture in your head how that would go! It's quite entertaining and serial.
