Also let's not forget that many who supported the war in Iraq are now sounding like Noam Chomsky over what is happening in Ukraine.

We you can rationalize things that way if you wish.

Israel has done horrible things to people for sure. But the Palestinians are not much better and they do use civilians as human shields. And the drones that killed families did it mistakenly, although I understand if that means little to you.

What Russia is doing is different. It is systematically wiping out cities. They don't see them as enemy combatants, they see them as a means to gain leverage. Kill as many civilians and destroy the cities to cause so much pain that Ukrainian leader yield. This is their MO.

Nobody is saying Israel has done terrible things or that the Palestinians are better? Straight to tribalism, no surprise here;) How did you even get that from what I wrote? Drones killed families by accident, what rock do you live under? Again, I am not arguing whether this is right or not.

Just to spell it out for you, the new normal is based on how combat is taking place in the current era, I do not care if it is right or wrong as that is not the point. These new wars are one sided, typically one side is much more powerful than the other and that this has caused for grey areas for what is acceptable as targets. As always, one side always argues that it is against the rules of war, well war is not the same.

Again, yes they are levelling cities because of the above. Look at Syria, same thing happened there, is the new standard.

They shouldn’t have invaded Ukraine. The people of Ukraine have every right to defend themselves.

I’m not going to put any blame on people defending their country from an outside aggressor.

Civilians with weapons that attack them are fair game in a war.

They have been bombing civilians infrastructure and buildings from afar where they can’t obviously see if they are armed and they weren’t under threat of attack. There are also reports of shooting at unarmed civilians and children.

Multiple nations have said they have strong evidences of war crimes and the US has now stated war crimes have been committed.

Not sure why what I said is tribal? I've never been pro-Israel if anything I've been attacked more for being sympathetic to Palestinians and defending Muslims on this BBS.

You said based on the Geneva Conventions, Ukrainian citizens are legit targets since they were being handed guns. I am disagreeing with you.

And no, this isn't some new standard. If you think that you don't know history. leveling cities is something that's been done since pretty much the dawn of cities.

Greta Thunberg is repeatedly fainting while watching the news about this war. CNN is currently airing a fuel depot in Lviv, Ukraine that has been bombed, is on complete fire, and is spewing the most vicious black smoke you've ever seen. And, we're going to save the planet? Yea...right! BS! BS! BS! We cannot save ourselves from anything let alone the planet.

This planet is doomed because the human race is a sh_tshow. We don't deserve this planet. Future generations will pay an escalating price for mankind's total shortsightedness with the irony being...fight amongst yourselves and pollute away but you are losing the real war for planet Earth! If only the human race could fight for a green planet like they fight each other. There will be a wasteland to fight for in the future and all THIS will be meaningless. It already is meaningless as Russia's only goal appears to be destroying Ukrainian cities as best they can. They aren't even hiding the fact they are out to destroy the infrastructure which includes civilian dwellings.

Most humans work to build a nest egg for the future so they can live comfortably and have money when they need it. But, we can't afford this courtesy to our planet's future. No...f*ck you, planet. That's what mankind says. F*ck you!

I said it before, the trump cult will rationalize anything for the golden one. They have no problem turning a blind eye thinking if they don't acknowledge it can't be bad.

Taking this with proper skepticism but it sounds like there is a breakdown of discipline among Russian troops due to low morale and being poorly equipped.

Also Putin likens "canceling" of Russian culture to JK Rowling's critiques of transgender.

Planet will be fine. If the earth was sentient it wouldn't notice humans.

While this war isn't so much of a war of resources there already are several conflicts over resources and will get worse. For example the conflict between the Israelis and Palestinians is often portrayed as a religious and an ethnic conflict yet one of the reasons why the Palestinians will keep on fighting and why land rights of Palestinians has recently risen to be a hot button issue is that Israeli settlers are taking more water and access to farmable land from occupied territories. In Gaza access to fishing rights is also restricted for Gazans.

As the climate changes and it cause more dislocations the threat of conflict and of people fleeing conflict will increase. The US Department of Defense knows this already and has warned that this will happen.
