This is not a war we're actually in, but I wish a whole lot of people could just recognize this is something we should just support the President in handling instead of playing armchair quarterback. We're already giving them all kinds of weapons to shoot at the Russians. I don't see how giving them jets would be any more of provocation than we're already doing.
There is no way attacking a maternity ward, church, or a school can be considered a lawful wartime activity in any book when it's clear that the Ukrainians are not using citizens as human shields. What is happening is the army is meeting the Russians on the field but the Russians are lobbing missiles and rockets at the cities and people behind them. How on earth can describe the occupants of a city as enemy combatants when you aren't even targeting enemy soldiers?
All Americans should be forced to view the video. It might sort of make up for the fact that we were deliberately spared to see the at least as horrific videos of our unprovoked illegal, immoral and war criminal attack on Iraq.. Hopefully a few Americans might actually think of any similarity to our actions in the Middle East.
According to a presentation given today by the Russian ministry of defense, they never wanted to capture Kyiv or Kharkiv in the first place.
Well then of course civilians are going to be targeted because you cannot determine who is just a civilian and who is a combatant. Thank you for making my point.

Fiverr is piling on...seems a little disingenuous but I guess if you need some cheap freelance work, this helps Ukrainians. https://www.fiverr.com/stores/support-ukraine We want to help Fiverr’s community of Ukrainian freelancers who are able to, and want to work during this war. If you want to show your support for Ukrainian-based freelancers, find someone below who can provide the services you’re looking for. In addition, these orders will aid the Ukrainian people at large, as Fiverr has committed to donating all fees collected from these transactions to the Ukrainian Red Cross. On that note, are any of these platforms taxing Russians? 'You can hire Russians, but it's 50% more because they're bad!!!'
100% agree. The war in Iraq is aging poorly to say the least and will bring shame for generations. The war in Iraq actually complicates our membership in NATO as well because the alliance is there to deter from countries as powerful as the US turning into tyrants and invading any country they want. However I am afraid that some folks are using this as a talking point in order to push their agenda to be an isolationist country like those on the fat right and some on the far left want which is used to make a case for doing nothing. War isn’t the answer but it’s naive and irresponsible to think that the US should just sit by and say whataboutiraq. We still have a huge role to play and responsibilities as the largest military in the world.
It's the same way terrorists in Palestine use civilian shields. Israel routinely bombs those targets as necessary as that is the only way to get to them. No different than drone bombs that kills a family in Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, Yemen or Pakistan. War is ugly and has changed from 1940's so new standards need to be written as the balance of power is generally leaning always one way. The weak combatant will always hide among the innocent as this isn't a war where the two armies are lining up to fight each other. Weapons are vastly more "precise" to a level where hiding or dispersing is your only strategy. This makes targets more grey. There are generally no good guys in war, it is always my interests against yours. The new norm is for proxy wars to occur, this is not going to be the last, this is actually going to happen more frequently as global competition arises. People need to get past the propaganda from NATO countries & the Putin rhetoric too. Truth is always somewhere in the middle.
much more mundane, and non-mission critical. that's what's so remarkable about the fact that they're still there, still working.
