I think most of you guys who are negative about Chet being skinny are looking at it the wrong way. Chet will gain pounds, he will be 230-240 easily over the next 5-6 years...I dont see him getting pushed around for long His main problem will be his endurance. Will his body support the weight, will his legs last? Dude has really skinny legs, which makes me believe his bone strength might not support the toughness of the NBA.
I don't know about 230-240 but yeah definitely agree. He's naturally going to gain mass still being a kid and in addition to the strength put on being in the league him being frail is definitely overblown by folks around here. it's same thing for any other skinny big coming into the league. latest example being mobley who's easily going to win ROY. heard the same stuff a year ago. the modern era doesn't cater to bully ball. that ship sailed a very long time ago. Embiid is the closest thing to that and nobody is shutting him down in the league anyway
In the nba you're more likely to draw a foul by creating contact than actually being hit across the body. Sucks for the bigs and perimeter defenders. Heard my homie Mario Elie say no one plays defense anymore but defense has been regulated by the uppity ups in all the sports. I guess just chase around, put a hand in their face ala Battier and pray they miss. Old man rant over. Chet's performance didn't sway me away from taking him 1 or 2. Gonzaga runs such a bland offense and his peers completely forget he's on the team. Sounds familiar. When is the lottery?
That’s not a bad comp. I think Paolo is a better playmaker and Gallo a better shooter. Banchero is also about 20 pounds heavier.
I was actually making a joke about Chet being compared to a skinny white guy. But when I think about it there are some similarities between the two.
I disagree with the Randle and Tobias comparisons, Banchero has more play making skills and is taller than the other 2 and more skilled off the dribble. I don't see the Blake comparisons at all, Banchero is more skilled and his game is nothing like Blake's whose game was based mainly on power and athleticism.
NBA ready. Will be an immediate difference maker to whichever team he goes to. 22/4/4/3 ... 7-12 from the field and 3-4 from 3 vs arguably one of the best defensive teams in the country. Wow.
Even the most " physically NBA ready" frontcourt college players are gonna have to adjust... Today's NBA is about offensive skill... As a previous poster mentioned, no one is stopping Embiid or Joker anyway... You can't pass up on someone as unique and fundamentally solid as Chet IMO.. May take a few seasons for his body to fill out but he won't take too much of a pounding in the NBA... College ball is full of uncoordinated mfers whose only asset to their team is to be physical... NBA ain't like that anymore
When I hear "NBA ready" I cringe and think about how "NBA ready" everyone thought Thomas Robinson was coming out of college.
he actually fooled me for a bit tbh. lol. I remember watching him at kansas and he was a beast that last year. His body was nba ready. His actual skills weren't and just didn't translate
