Yeah, I still can't comprehend that spin.

    1. Bully approaches kid A.
    2. Kid A asks if others will help.
    3. Kid B tells other kids what's about to happen.
    4. Bully and surrogates: Why did kid B push kid A into picking this fight with us?!?!

It just doesn't hold up to any scrutiny. Okay, the bully is a paranoid psycho, but this is all still mostly his fault alone.

It’s 100% his fault alone. This is the problem with autocracy, one man can cause so much grief to so many others.

So Zelensky didn't start the war. Putin invaded Ukraine again. They were always going to do it unless Ukraine preemptively surrendered.

This is as about as clear cut black and white good and bad as it comes.

Putin invaded, people will always fight for their own home country.

I am not convinced they will lose, in the end, Russia doesn't have enough troops to control the country, and they will constantly be targeted and killed - this will be a long drawn out - Russians and Ukranians dying situation for years to come.....

It sucks, unless, someone in Russia kills that nutjob that is their current President.

Remember, Vietnam couldn't beat the big bad US Army either, right? RIGHT???? Same for Russia here.

It really didnt take you long, did it? Im taking an anti-interventionist stance (which means taking no side, as it seems you're not aware of this concept) and leap frog into calling me a Putin supporter. Dont forget to call me a Nazi, Hitler supporter and racist.

And I live 30 minutes from Disney. Im only disappointed they do not accept Bitcoin.

I think the 'push Zelenskyy into fighting an unwinnable war..." is an incorrect reflection of recent history.

Zelenskyy said he was told repeatedly (every 15min) to get out on that 2nd day of the invasion. US and others were ready to evac him out of there. The expectation was that Ukraine would be lost in days and NATO was the line that need to hold Putin back from the rest of the EU. That the best outcome for NATO at that time was a Ukraine under Putin's military control but would face an insurgency war from the Ukrainian if the Ukrainian choose to continue the fight after losing the country. Because of these initial common thoughts, no one publicly pushed Zelenskyy to stay in what they thought was a lost fight, and in private, told him to get out. IOW, no one pushed Zelenskyy into this current state of fighting as it was not envisioned to be possible.

It was Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian that refused to give up and chose to stay and fight. They were facing death to themselves and to their families (Zelenskyy made the statement on that 2nd day that he was target #1 and his families were target #1b) so to me, it's clear that they made a conscious choice without manipulation or being pushed by others.

Ok, so you are saying why we should care about Ukraine at all? Like why send them weapons? What's truly in it for the average American?

That's a debate worth having and I think if you had stated that way you'd get a lot less hostile of a response. But I think you are making a very strange statement by saying we are pushing Zelensky into fighting an unwinnable war.

Russia's history of recent conquest is that they wipe out the population of a hostile territory they take. They committed direct genocide in both Chechnya and Georgia. And they are continuing that pattern here. Even if Zelensky decided to lay down arms and not resist, huge amounts of the population would be sent to camps and rot and die.

It's like saying a woman shouldn't fight to protect her baby and just let someone take it. Or a man should let someone kidnap his family without a fight. You are literally arguing against self-defense here. So yeah, people are questioning your motives for such a strange statement in light of the facts. And it isn't a surprise that someone would accuse you of being a supporter of Russia for taking this kind of stance given the information (truths) available to you.

Russian newspaper blames army death toll report on hackers | Reuters

LONDON, March 22 (Reuters) - A Russian newspaper has accused hackers of planting fake news on its website after a report briefly appeared there saying nearly 10,000 Russian soldiers had been killed in Ukraine.

The incident marked the second apparent breach within a week of the tightly controlled war narrative that the Kremlin promotes through loyal Russian media.

An online article on the site of mass-market paper Komsomolskaya Pravda, still accessible via a web archive tool, quotes the Russian defence ministry as saying 9,861 Russian servicemen have been killed and 16,153 wounded in what Moscow calls its special military operation in Ukraine.

Those figures had been removed from a version of the same article visible on the website on Tuesday.

Instead, an advisory said: "On March 21, access to the administrator interface was hacked on the Komsomolskaya Pravda website and a fake insert was made in this publication about the situation around the special operation in Ukraine. The inaccurate information was immediately removed."

Russia has not officially updated its casualty figures since stating on March 2 that 498 servicemen had been killed and 1,597 wounded. Since then its offensive has run into further heavy resistance from Ukraine's army and volunteer defence forces.

I disagree with SpaceGhost plenty, but from all his post history, I don't read him being a Putin supporter or apologist. Being honestly against war is very different than being pro-Putin.

I agree that American interventions are a joke. They're usually knee jerks, lack in nuance/context, costly plus full of bloated sleazycontracts and most likely backfires (failed coups...Venezuela). I didn't object too much pulling out of Afghanistan, and we should knock off our defense budget by 2/5 to a half its size (but we won't cuz we scurred).

It's just that with Putin, he's already done it three times. When I was half as old, I might've been inclined to say f' it, let's not be the World Police, but there are real implications if we sit on our asses and do nothing again.

He's invaded frequently to the point where the is no nuance. Just a ****ton of dead bodies and rubble.

America built most of these institutions 70-80 years ago. The peace and prosperity we enjoyed has mostly been contingent upon them. Sure, it's our choice to either tear it down or rebuild it with new thinking, but doing nothing is the absolute worst decision. It's an apathetic and impotent slow death of mediocrity and misery. Agency really matters here, but most of the voting public refuse to commit.

Pretty much every American I know considers themselves an "anti-interventionalist". The fact that you feel like you've earned a special badge or something says alot of how you think of yourself. Your position isn't special or thoughtful. You're vague idealistic position without any basis of reality is special though... but not special in a good way.

Biden pulling out of Afghanistan should thrill you then if you are such an advocate. Where are your posts here praising Biden for pulling out of Afghanistan?

And no you're not a Nazi or a racist. But you are definitely exhibiting the soft skills utilized by Russian based trolls, and their American right wing purveyors which is a soft skill propaganda tactic of vaguely describing a position but not actually saying what your position is, so that way someone can say "Are you actually saying X" and then you can respond "How dare you" regardless of what they say.

So no... not a racist. Not a Nazi. Russian right wing troll??... You definitely exhibit those soft skills they are well trained in, and train Americans on the right to perform in order to attack debates online. Sorry if that offends you but you definitely show off those skills more than most I've seen. The one theme though across the board will always be Democrats = stupid/bad.

On the topic of Ukraine he absolutely is singing the Tucker Carlson line though. I know enough about SpaceGhost here to know he's likely not a Russian troll given his tenure here, but I don't think we should be so timid to not call out BS.

His methodology of debate here needs to be challenged more often. You need to actually take a position at some point instead of just painting everyone as idiots while you are the one person who knows what they are talking about... while not actually giving a position.

On Ukraine, taking a "non-intervention" stance doesn't really mean jack. Like what exactly does non-intervention mean by your definition? Otherwise you are just talking the Tucker Carlson/Tulsi Gabbard line. Sorry if that offends anyone with affection for SGhost given his tenure here, but I have to call it out.

Note quite praise but I did clearly state Biden was given undue criticism.

Seems disingenuous to accuse SpaceGhost of being a Russian troll when you know enough from history that he isn't. I mean he's already been challenged by other posters for his comments, so it's not like his takes are easily swallowed by the majority on here.

Some would accuse that as virtue signalling, but I'm guessing it's more frustration or venting from behavior/values you believe runs counter to your own. Which is fine for what amounts to a partisan debate, no more no less.

Pure non-intervention would likely mean just that. There are definitely concerns with the West seizing Russian assets and nulling (not zeroing) out their global ledger...our ideal of property rights for one. We've established a regional/global hegemon. China has established an ethnic hegemon. Russia doesn't have that right? Well ****'em...but gently with an oil lubed reacharound because they have nukes.

Anyways, accusations or perjoratives should still be tread carefully. People opposing the Iraq War were called traitors. With the partisan bent since the Hillary debacle and further boosted by the Capitol Riots, "Russian sympathizers" are one step away from traitor for liberals. Compromised assets or useful idiots, some folks like to say...

Which is odd but not new since Ukraine isn't about us, still evokes the same emotions and political tensions, but ultimately it is about us through how the America reacts.

Just because we couch it with flowery words doesn't mean there's ultimately a yes or no at the end of the day.

All geopolitics is always American first in mind. Everything done is what benefits us and the west. So I don’t get this American first. It is like some political campaign slogan or something.

Ukrainians are not fighting because we are pushing them to fight. THEY are fighting because it is their homes, their children, their lives, their lands. It would be the same here if there was an invasion. Or would you give up and not fight for your homeland side with the occupiers.

Only thing dumb is your stupid 99ers posts. You think you are above everyone shows how intellectual deficient you are. Instead of having a substantive discourse of the topics at hand you post this crap. I thought at first you were trolling and trying to be funny. Then I realize you are like your posts.
