Wood is a big man who shoots 40% from 3 on 5 attempts a game on the season. In the last 35 games he’s shot 45% from 3. He is also an elite finisher inside. Say what you will about his defense, he is human and on the worst team in the league playing down 20 in most games, I’m not sure how much effort on defense people expect. Say what you will about his selfish ball stopping on offense, he is by far the best offensive option on the entire team, why would he give the ball up constantly to far less efficient options, he is not here to develop rookies that’s the coaches job.

Wood is not a great player and he is flawed, but there is only a handful of bigs who can do what he can on offense, especially considering how much he’s forced to create for himself since there is no pg on the team. No he doesn’t deserve the max, but the market won’t give that to him either.

I don’t mind trading him, but if you give him away to a good team he will make you look silly. I’ll say this, all season long, Wood has been the one guy that’s been most in Sengun’s corner, always the first one to jump off the bench on a good play when other guys barely clap their hands. Wood was the one lobbying to play together with Sengun. Wood is by far the best player on the team (the worst team in the league, so I’m not saying he’s a superstar) and if we do end up keeping him he could fit nicely next to Sengun if the coach knew what he was doing: actually use Sengun in the pnr with Wood spacing court in the corner, as opposed to the other way around which is infuriating.

    Those numbers are very impressive.

Yet he doesn’t switch or communicate on defense. He doesn’t even call out screens… he doesn’t get back on defense in transition and he actually smirks and smiles when teammates like Tate and Green and Christopher are surprised at his lack of effort or lack of willingness to team defend.

Wood could help a team competing for a title, but he lacks the interest or drive for a team like the Rockets and a coach like Silas.

Wood is like icing on a cake. Maybe even buttercream. Without the right cake/team what good is he?

He is a finisher not a builder, IMO. He has value in most situations less ours.

Funny thing is - he is capable of playing good defense when he wants to. It's all about his effort level that night.

HELL NO. If there’s one guy I’d pick to ship out first, it would be Wood. He’s fools gold 2.0. It’s a shame because he’s got a lot of physical tools and is talented on offense but does not have a team winning mentality. And haven’t even brought up his defense which is horrendous.

I'm glad to see CWood actually coming around. He's really suited as a solid 3rd option on a good team. He's shows us in spurts that he could be a 1-2, but I see more diva than alpha in his makeup. It's a shame, because he truly is a talented player. Hopefully his stock shoots up and we're able to package him for a nice young player.

In this team, he is going to look out for himself. I fully recognize that wood can put up 20/10 with a good pg. Him and harden would have been lethal. I think for this team, it is amazing he is putting up numbers bc maybe a team like Portland will take him and our bkn pick for their pick (prob add other things )

Him at 4 might work for us with a player like chet but not sure with Chet being so skinny of that would help. Besides that we want to play senguin at the 4.

Great night, great numbers, another great example of a "me first" player. I wish Wood the best, but I hope I don't see him on this team next season.

I hate when Wood has a good game. One step closer to Stone keeping him around.

Wait, wuh? If Sengun is playing the 5.....did Wood cop out and decided on playing the 4?

If Sengun is forced to be at the 5, we better be looking for a center taller than 6'6 to defend the paint. Silas, that's ****ing ridiculous.

    It is what it is.

If he wants to grow he'll have to join a Top 8 team eventually.

Being stuck on a rebuilding squad does not help his career or his legacy.

This is what this looked like when Eric Gordon shot 50% earlier this season from downtown and it seemed he couldn't miss.

He'd always look like Quitten so there is that.

Now tell me the opposing center's stats in those same games. Zubac, Valanciunas, some random dude named Goga Bitadze went 9-9 with 23 points and 9 rebounds in 26 minutes a few games ago. Wood = empty stats

Personally, I've been one of the biggest Wood bashers on this site for a while now, but I've come to the realization that Wood is just misplaced on this team. He would be a deadly 3 on a good team with two bigs. He covers the wings a lot better than the post. Tonight he was dominant mostly when Sengun was in at the 5, so the 4 is a viable position for him also. Think of the Scottie Pippen role to go along with the look. More like the Robert Horry of the team.
