TMAC is a very good player but as you all know, Van Gundy's offense isnt a high powered run and gun offense. Also, he will have a very good big man in Yao that needs the ball. So I dont think TMAC will lead the league in pts if he were on the Rox. thoughts? a. under 20 pts b. 25 pts c. about the same as last year 28 pts d. more than 29 because Yao will free him up
19-22ppg, 7rpg, 4apg, 1.5spg, 1.5bpg. Expect his shooting percentages to return to their 02-03 levels.
Dude, you're supposed to give ranges for a question like this. Something like: Under 20 20-24 25-28 28+ Luckily I thought he would average 25 points. But what if I was thinking 24.369607 then I couldn't vote in you're poll. You gotta give your poll a chance.
i was laughing at that espn segment where they had no player averaged 20 under gundy. You bet your ass thats gundy style. . I think tmac will avg round 25 if he is traded.
I saw that on ESPN too, and I thought, "That can't be right." I looked it up; Patrick Ewing averaged 22.4ppg in 96-97, JVG's first full season with the Knicks. They must have meant career scoring average under Van Gundy.
i dont care how much he is averaging. tmac will get his points...what i want is the tmac who is blocking nearly 2 shots a game, pulling down 8 boards, dropping 5 to 6 dimes a game, not jacking up a ridiculous amount of 3's a game, and instead getting to the line 10 times a game.
And also, there was no "Zero, since Steve f*cked everything up" option. Just not a well thought-out poll. Oh well, happens to the best of us, I suppose.
Points-26 @45% 7 Boards 5 Assists. Persoaly i Think Tracy will be more demanding on yao!. he'll also will get him into better postions to score by passing it to him at the Right Time!. last Season i saw on number of times, yao being open down low , yet Cuttino or Francis would just Ignore him.
I think his scoring will be down obviously with the system we have here in Houston, BUT his efficiency will be much better, he will shoot a better percentage from the field and ft line i believe because of the attention that will be put on Yao when both players are on the court. He will have some monster nights too where he 'explodes' for 40 points. (in T-mac case 40 isnt much, on a jvg team its a miracle) but in their second season i think his scoring avg will go up as he will make much better decisions and the maturation of Yao will help his over all game. I think seeing Yao get anywhere from 20-24 points while T-mac averaging 25-30points a game is realistic in a few years on the same team. man July 15th cant come soon enough!
With JVG keeping the inside-out game of his, but as he has said, not restricted to the low post, utilizing T-mac as the gaurd with penetration. I'd say.. 25ppg 7rpg 5.5apg 1.8bpg, would be more than possible figures for him in his first season as a Rocket.
If that's the case, then he's no better than Steve Francis. I believe he'll average around 25ppg if he does end up coming here.
I think TMac & Yao will compliment each other really well. I could possibly see both avg. 25 pts a game.
25 ppg (Because of Yao offesnse) 7 apg (Because of Yao offensive and TMac's doubles) 7 rpg (Because of JVG defense) 1.8 spg (Because of JVG defense) .470 FG% (Because of Yao doubles) .400 3PT% (Because of Yao doubles)
I said under 20, but what I mean is under 20 for an 82 game schedule. He'll probably get 25 as an average, but only for the 30-40 games that his lower back allows him to play. I wish I was kidding. I think this trade is going to be a gut-wrenching killer after a few years. I hope I'm very wrong, and I understand that we have to try it.
I think Tmac will score around the 25 ppg mark but with a higher FG% and more trips to the FT line. We were missing that someone that could get to the FT line on a consistent basis. Yao should have been that person but since he shoots so many fadeaways he is not getting the calls. Also teams will have to focus in on Yao or Tmac but you cannot manage both (Detriot series as an example) hopefully our role players can contribute on a nightly basis. (meaning I hope we have a deeper bench) Tmac seems to shoot a decent clip from the 3 pt line and gets to the foul line on a regular basis and I hope he helps develop Yao into a more complete player. Someone needs to continue to push Yao to play hard and aggresive .. but this should make for some exciting BB next season with Yao owning the paint and Tmac owning the backcourt. I wonder what our starting line up will look like next season. Cward / Kollie Tmac / JJ /Pike Boki / JJ / Tmac MoT / Spoon Yao / Ewing hahaha obviously we have some big holes we need to fill but Im optimistic that everything will work itself out. J
