I feel like Sochan is the type of player we all will love, an instant favorite... Otherwise we're all going to hate him. Pat Bev/Draymond type energy Other Argh I can't focus I really want to watch st. Peters.
Watching duren try to score on Chet is hilarious. He tries to bully but its a block party. Stick to pnr duren. You don’t have skills in the post. Especially not against Chet
They trying to bully Chet but despite his tiny looking frame he doesn't get pushed around very easily.
Duren vs Chet, 1-4, blocked twice, fouled Chet on a drive, but 2 OREB against. I don't see an "exposure" so far.
If Duren cant back him up or bother his shot then why even bother worrying about the next level lol This is the guy
we’ll see how the rest of the game goes but so far his defense on a stronger opponent backing him down has been exactly like I imagined. With his length even if you back him down under the rim, he’s so long he’s still going to just reach up and clock or contest your shot. Backing him down and using your strength does not have as much effect in a guy that is so long with good timing. It’s almost meaningless. It’s why Chet’s current strength issues have not scared me at all. Also, if a team is going to try to keep posting up Chet for some reason that’s just going to take them out of their offense.
he does get backed down. duren was able to get to the rim, but chet is such an elite rim protector it doesn't matter. it almost changes the conversation. will nba bigs be able to back him down and get to the rim? yeah, sure. but the real question is, can they score on him at the rim? and the answer is probably no.
Memphis might still win this, started 2-11 and only down 1. But it looks like Gonzaga's offense has fallen off the face of the earth, can't make a 3, can't get to the rim, and relying on middies.
I don't usually watch much college bball but everytime I do, I ask myself why. The quality of play is generally pretty bad. As an outsider looking in, I'll probably never understand the hype for college ball, lol
Tie game, 11 all. Early Observations: Memphis' athleticism is giving Gonzaga fits. Drives to the rim are nearly non-existent, Memphis dominating the offensive glass and second chance points. Only 1-4 from 3 yet keeping up by making this game as ugly as possible. Chet is the real deal, at least on defense. I'd like to see him try his luck off the dribble against Duren again, but his passing is clearly troubled by the Tigers' defense. Duren looks like the new age Deandre Jordan, I want to see him way more in the P&R and not posting up the top defender in the nation. EDIT: P&R Lob to Duren right as I type this. If I'm Memphis, I don't want to go at Holmgren, turn this game into a track meet and keep him and Duren as far away as possible.
I’m so happy you guys are all falling in love with Chet’s game like I did. I was enamored by Smith early and still am but Chet is the guy in this draft. Props to @Nook he’s been championing him for nearly 2 years. When he first showed me his highlights I was so confused by his size.
I wonder if it's just their system. Not familiar with how the college system works but Gonzaga doesn't really get anything for Chet when he gets drafted high or anything? He's just a one year rental basically? If that's the case, I can see why they wouldn't want him.to be the focal point over a guy like Timme who's there for a while.
Watching Chet protect the paint and the rim makes me even angrier at Wood for how bad he is at defense. I used to just blame his frame but Chet is even skinnier and still defends well
