You know what makes me most angry about this situation? Carlos not only was everything you want a franchise cornerstone to be, but he was the one person who defended the team in the aftermath of the cheating scandal. Crane caved in and fired Luhnow needlessly. It was Correa who stood in front of the press and jerks like Joe Kelly and stood up for his team and the city of Houston. Crane took that and pissed it away.

Being the MAN makes no sense in baseball though. It's not like Basketball where a ball dominant teammate can suppress others.

If anything being on a better team makes it harder for pitchers to pitch around you.

I’m with ya till the last word

Yes the buck stops with the owner and I get that

But this has James Click written all over it. We needed a GM pushing Crane to sign Carlos and we have one telling him no, just let them go and replace with cheaper.

This ain’t Tampa F****** Bay Click

Bye Carlos. Don't forget your coat. Now we can focus on Tucker and Alvarez.

nah this is all on crane

click would love crane greenlighting him to pay correa I'm sure.

Really doubt he's trying to convince crane to let him go and replace with cheaper.

Half the board is already blaming Boras… and now there are others starting to target Click?

We already know Crane has taken the lead on all big ticket acquisitions… whether it was the JV trade, the Altuve extension, the Bregman extension (after he originally had an issue with the proposed 2019 salary), and the JV contract from a few months ago that even though its $10 million dollars less than Correa, still seems like a less impactful/higher risk deal.

This came down to Correa vs. Crane. We know Correa wasn’t thrilled with the first offer. We also know that there were no other 10 year deals worth taking coming from elsewhere. Either Crane was unwilling to grant opt outs due to pride/ego, or Correa was unwilling to let Crane match due to pride/ego.

Keep defending Click, at some point maybe he will acquire a top talent instead of just letting them go. I’m sure Crane will give him enough time to find one at some point

    F Click

We are still a good team, but that’s it. We are nothing special anymore

The play is Correa is an *******. I don’t see any other way to look at it.

    Little doubt egos are involved.

Not buying that it is as simple as Crane just wouldn't pay up. Not his M.O. But lets see.

    I look forward to

“on to the bottom of the 9th, McCormick, Maldonado and Goodrum due up for the Stros”

When is the last time we had such a lack of depth to our lineup

That’s what I’m saying, this does not smell like the work of Jim Crane

I'm not going to go after Crane or Click but yeah that's what hurts for me too.

I'm going to miss that definitely. He had tons of bravado and it was fun to watch him silence other teams, especially in the playoffs.

And the guy was 27...that hurts too...I know he's had some years where he doesn't live up to the expectations (which were sky high anyways) but he was still a star player that will not be easily replaced or might not be replaced for years.

My gut feeling is this is more about Carlos. Whether it's pride or his agent or some other thing yet to be determined (wife likes snow, who knew!?) it's hard to believe the Astros wouldn't have matched this deal. this isn't like Cole or Springer where you saw those were huge deals and could understand that maybe a team would be shy paying for that...this is basically a one year prove it deal for a star player, one that you think he easily signs with the Stros for one more year.

Not defending Click… I don’t think he has much to do with this at all.

Terrible. Houston sports are a dumpster fire. At least Green looks promising, but he will jet out of here and play for LA probably after his rookie extension.
