    What is also nuts is the Astros didn't have to go all the way to 35 million to match. Minnesota has state income tax that is 9.85% on income over $261,510 for married filing jointly.

    Why not? 1 year for 35M to s as low risk of f a professional contract as you can get. Even if he stayed for full 3 years for whatever reasons, it’s still very low risk contract. Crane sucks!!!

    The guy made it seem like the Astros didn't like the 1 year opt out but 1 year is better than 0 years.

    Man… I’m hoping there some sort of reasoning behind this. Like the team was deeply concerned about his medical report or something. I just cannot see how the Astros could not get this kind of deal done.

    Can wait to hear how Crane/Click will spin this. My guess would be Astros want longer term and Boras want a shorter deal so CC can opted out after 1 year. Even then, still stupid not to sign him for 1 year.
