McClain with the Texans propaganda again. Caserio wasn't handcuffed. He always had the power to walk away from any deal. He could've threatened to force Deshaun to play for the Texans or else face fines if he didn't accept a trade that yielded the best possible return for the Texans. Texans got fleeced because they wanted to get rid of Deshaun just as much as Deshaun wanted to be traded. They didn't want Deshaun in the organization because he doesn't get along with Easterby. Not a good cultural fit!

He had the option of getting literally nothing and then benching Watson for another season before getting less for him the next time around.

The no trade clause that Watson's buddy BOB gave him was the final middle finger the two of them gave the franchise.

Despite being handcuffed by that no trade, they still got 3 firsts for damaged goods....and they got it from the most consistently incompetent franchises in the league....meaning they could remain good picks.

Sure he did, but Mahomes is a way better person all the way around. He also didn't miss near as many games as Watson while being paid hurt and butt hurt.

This was ALWAYS about money. Watson asked the Texans for a re-worked contracted Last Summer, while everything was going on. He would have stayed and played for the Texans if he got that re-worked contract. The Texans obviously said no, especially with the criminal investigation going on.

Watson and his agent are slime. I hope those ACL's go out.

Texan fans worked themselves thinking they were going to get the best package ever. Watson just had too much leverage.

The longer Watson didn’t play, the worse the package would have gotten. This is an unfinished civil situation.

Texans didn't have to pay him not to play. They could've had him start. If Watson held out, fine him. I don't understand why people are saying the only two options were to either trade him for less value now or pay him not to play. They had him under contract until 2025. He would've been 30 by the time the contract expired. Texans had plenty of leverage but chose not to use it because they wanted to get rid of him ASAP.

As houston fans, we know about trades being voided due to physicals. Caserio isnt even giving us a chance at that.

Great idea. Send a guy out there who doesn't want to play and is going to deliberate throw games for you, thereby trashing his trade value and pissing off all of your fans. Screwing yourself on both ends.

So Caserio basically collected tickets at the door and just walked off. It was all between DW4 and the suitors after that. That’s piss poor work right there.

What exactly was he supposed to do? The 3 1st was the buy-in. Watson screwed the Texans with the re-work contract demand. None of the 3 teams in the NFC South we comfortable with that demand. Cleveland was DESPERATE and gave Watson what he wanted. When that happen, Caserio had no leverage. If would have said "no", Texans are sitting on a $35 million dollar QB not playing. Caserio wanted this over. If at least ONE of the NFC south teams would have agreed to a re-work, then the Texans had something.

What were you expecting? Caserio to challenge Watson to a bare knuckle boxing match where the winner gets to decide the NTC?

It's about managing expectations, and with twitter "sources" proclaiming every minute that we are getting the grand daddy biggest package ever, us fans were set up for disappointment. I'm in the camp of Watson had too much leverage as well... browns could have offered more but Watson wouldn't have waived his NTC.

    .

How you going to wait? Another season? Once the criminal charges were gone, the clock was ticking. The longer u wait, the less u were going to get. People were not going to give you 3 1st for player that has sat for 2 years.

The fact that they dropped this at 3pm on a Friday afternoon should tell you all you need to know. People with good news that will make people happy don't hold onto it until the end of the day on Friday and try to bury the headline in the weekend.
