Full game highlights. So many different draft threads, I couldn’t decide which one to put this in! Lol. Everybody is hyped up about the draft.
Haha unfortunately we have to draft them before seeing them play a season in the NBA. There in lies the gamble portion of this whole draft thing. Watching Chet dribble is sometimes like watching a baby gazelle run for the first time; but he is so long and covers so much ground that it covers up most, if any, of those flaws.
If a GM uses one loss to radically shift a players draft stock, they should be fired. Conversely, a hot tournament run doesn't automatically boost a guy up boards, or make a fringe player draftable. Johnny Juzang had late first round buzz after UCLA's deep run last year, now he looks like an UDFA. Max Abmas was the cinderella story potentially sneaking into the draft, now he's looking like a future G-League MVP. The tournament can put guys on radars, but you gotta trust the larger sample size.
he's no where near close to dropping out of the lottery. TyTy and kentucky got upset by a small school last night and was horrible. He's still a guaranteed lottery pick. One game in the tourney doesn't define anyone bc folks that matter understand how hard the tourney actually is. You're playing teams you have never even seen before and in a win or go home scenario anything can happen. The tourney mostly gives a chance of buzz for guys that aren't even on the radar. Other than that if you're already an elite lottery prospect, you stay there with maybe a slight shift here and there
Putting up those numbers as a second option is ridiculous. Thoroughly enjoyed watching his performance
Remember Patrick O'Byrant? Rafael Aurajo? Dudes went from unknowns to playing their way into the lottery and then subsequently not getting a second NBA contract. I love March!
Chet has been extremely impressive. He doesn't just rely on his length for defense, he's a good positional defender. That's most of the battle right there. I don't think he has the lateral quickness to stay in front of guards like Mobley does. I think at the very least he'll be a Swiss army knife big, like a 7 foot tall AK47. Blocks everything, can handle the rock and pass, rebound, shoot. If he were 220 pounds he'd probably be consensus #1, but because he's so skinny there's the understandable concern that he'll be outmuscled every night like a Chris Boucher.
Hoping to see more from Jabari 2nd half. Only 4 shots, can’t create his own shot, and getting blown by on their perimeter. Just a bizarre half of basketball. Edit: Early 2nd half, 13 points on only 6 shots. 3 spot up threes and a one dribble pull up. His shot is beautiful.
Ivey is going to be a problem in the NBA if his shot translates. He’s in an offense where he plays off ball the majority of the time and the paint is always clogged with a big guy. On a positive note, he’s figured out how to play without the ball in his hands and limited spacing. He’s devastating off of drag screens, in spread pick and rolls, and in isolation.. Sign me up Peep what he does at the 23 second mark.
If the Rockets get a top 3 pick, should they just do whatever they can to get another one? Trade this years Nets pick, Bucks pick next season and all of the other Nets picks to have Green Sengun Christopher and 2 of Ivey/Chet/Jabari 5 of those 6 players along with whoever they draft next season would be the icky sticky.
