Not sure why people are down on an Atl package. I’m hearing AJ Terrell (All Pro w/ 3 more yrs on rookie deal), three 1sts (including the #8 this year), and other draft capital. that’s a damn good haul. Not sure why folks would prefer an NO package, which would more than likely be later picks because they will be much better than Atl (they actually have a defense and some offensive weapons).
For all we know- they could already know they’re out… but counterpoint, why wouldn’t Deshaun intentionally string a long the Saints being that they’re a division rival of the team he’s likely headed to? Saints have been seeing/ hearing all the smoke everyone else is hearing and likely more. This thing has drawn out too long. I consider it HIGHLY unlikely that Deshaun turns down his hometown team, full of his family, favorite rappers, etc. the writing is on the wall, IMO. Especially considering the Matt Ryan situation. Like someone mentioned earlier- I think the Falcons figuring out Matt Ryan’s next destination and the compensation are the only hold ups at this point
They’ll deny it and Falcon’s games will be the hottest ticket ATL has seen since Michael Vick. Not that complicated.
I’m not an insider. But my understanding is that the Hayward signing was for a potential replacement for AJ, who Caserio is super high on, and that the three 1sts were never negotiable. What are u hearing?
and this is why people dont want women in mens sports.. deshaun watson was accused THATS IT, no criminal charges were filed. Let it go, but i forgot we are dealing with unforgiving liberals
I’ve heard the three firsts might be 2 firsts and a second. Also that AJ Terrell would be included, but Kyle Pitts would not. That package isn’t enough for the Texans. They want three firsts, but Atlanta is trying to hold on to that extra first because they are essentially rebuilding, and they want to keep Pitts to give Watson some ammo to fight with. Atlanta might blink, but Caserio will need to play hard ball to make it happen. Unfortunately he doesn’t have a lot of leverage and they are ready to move on. My guess, and this part is just a hunch, is something like Atlanta’s 2022, 2023 firsts, Tennessee 2022 second, Atlanta’s 2023 NOT a first, and AJ Terrell. That’s not bad, but not the package I think a lot of us were hoping for.
He was born and raised an hour outside of ATL, offensive minded HC, stud weapon in Pitts, and one of the most well respected owner in the league.
When you factor in the risk teams are taking with Watson and the fact that Atlanta's firsts were always going to be more valuable than the other three teams, I could probably live with two firsts, two seconds and Terrell, but I would hope Caserio could find a way to get that third first rounder or at least some more picks or assets to sweeten the pot.
I have a hunch that we will ultimately be disappointed by the return we get... the huge reported returns are likely just the Texans trying to convince possible trading partners to up their offers. I hope I am wrong, but I don't think we are getting more than two firsts and a player ATL or NO are comfortable including in a package (definitely not Pitts). And we will regret CAR and CLE were ruled out by watson.
