The 49ers would be interested in putting in no effort, losing no assets and just magically getting Watson for free? No ****? That's groundbreaking reporting, surpasses anything Woodward and Bernstein ever tweeted, absolutely spectacular.
Indy has cap space, tenn isn't close. They would have more dead money in Tannehill getting rid of him than keeping him. They can't pay 60 million for qb....
If you aren't getting 4 1st I would rather just make him play. Most of those picks will end up sucking. Look at all the players that were picked in rg3 deal. They ended up sucking.
There really is no scenario where the Texans get a player from these picks better than Watson. The problem is, Deshaun doesn't want to be here and I don't think the team wants him here either. It's over.
His value is officially at the highest it will ever be for the Texans. There is no point to hold onto him to be petty. He won't suit up and the Texans don't want him too. He spit on the team and the city even before he was sued by dozens of women.
It’s not really about “winning” the trade…it’s about moving on. Just like trading Harden allowed the Rockets to hit the reset button trading Watson allows the Texans to do the same.
Exactly. If Caserio gets a haul as we are anticipating we need to be thanking him for playing the long game and getting us the most we could have possibly gotten for him. Watson is irreplaceable but he was NEVER coming back and the picks are a risk but can also pan out. QB Malik Willis is an interesting prospect. This will end up being best case scenario all considered.
I get that Watson has legitimate personal connections to Atlanta, but I don't know why he'd pick the Falcons. They've had competent QB play, but underachieved for years, minus the one Super Bowl season. Their defense is atrocious, and Ridley is out for the entire year. If he goes there, at best, you're probably hovering around .500 next season, and that might be generous. New Orleans, Carolina and Cleveland feel tailor-made to win with a better QB right now. They were all top 10 defensive teams, they all have top 5-10 RBs and they all have quality offensive weapons in the passing game. I can understand him picking any of those three and justifying it pretty easily. Atlanta feels like an odd choice, although I certainly wouldn't be mad at it from an asset acquisition standpoint. I just don't know that I take them as serious contenders right now, but I'm also unclear what Watson is looking for in his next destination.
It is highly questionable that Watson would be welcomed with open arms in Wokestan. He needs to be traded to somewhere in Trump country to have a chance of surviving the local media heat.
