Man I would love to get T-Mac in a Rockets uniform and ship Steve out of here. But with all of the headaches and hassles I’m just not sure I care anymore. In all honesty I am just about ready to for the Rockets to start (if they haven’t already) exploring other options. Rumor had it that one of the options that Orlando was looking at was to ship Steve to Chicago for Kirk Hinrich and Tyson Chandler. I’m not at all opposed to that deal. As a matter of fact I would still be giddy about moving Francis. I have also heard that we are trying to move up to the number 5 spot in the draft. I’m not sure what we are trying to use to get there but I am not opposed to that either. I guess what I am saying is that there are other deals out there that could still be good for us and I think it is time to start exploring those other possibilities if it is apparent that the Magic’s GM is exploring other options himself.
I agree. Say no to Magic and stop all the dramas. I don't want Rox to be a drama team like LA. As great as TMac, the Rox goes as far as Yao goes.
Except for how to make Mobley and Cato feel like part of the team again. It's not time to give up yet. This is T-MAC we're talking about here... you can't get impatient. These are massive deals and they could take time to work out on all fronts. The NBA Draft is tomorrow - I expect we will know by then.
Let Tmac do the talk with Magic, while we explore other options with SF. That is the best way to put pressure on Magic.
I'm not saying forget about the Magic deal. Leave it on the table but look for other deals as well. If the Magic decide they are ready to deal before we find something else then we take McGrady... ...but if Chicago agrees to trade us Hinrich and Chandler and a draft pick (as an example) before the Magic make up their mind then I say take the deal at hand and forget about the Magic.
Well i think the off season is very long & we have plenty of time AFTER the T-Mac thing to explore other options but for now we should just stick to this 1 trade n see what happines..
There's no way you can have multiple deals on the table involving the same players. If we offered Francis to the Bulls, we'd have to declare publicly that we are no longer interested in TMac. TMAC!
I know right. He's just a young pure PG who can run an offense, plays hard defense, and hustles. What a piece of crap!
No we wouldn't. We are interested in all possibilities, that does not mean we have lost interest in T-Mac. It's no different than what Orlando is doing by entertaining multiple deals for T-Mac.
Yeah, we aren't the Magic. No need to emulate them. Just focus on getting the T-Mac deal done (set up a 4 team deal if you have to). Even if you have the resources to enter other deals without diverting energy from getting T-Mac, be upfront and let other potential partners know that any negotiation is contingent on the T-Mac deal falling through.
I disagree. Orlando has something everyone wants in TMac. They have the luxury of fielding multiple offers. Houston has something I'm not sure too many teams want. So we'd be the ones offering, hoping teams take Francis. We aren't in the drivers seat. If you were the Bulls, and you knew Houston was trying to get TMac, how would you react when Houston offers you a deal involving Francis? Without Francis, TMac doesn't come to Houston.
I agree. There is nothing wrong with putting all your effort into acquiring a player like Tracy Mcgrady. All focus and determination should be on getting him in a Houston uniform. Talking to other teams is too risky right now. If the Orlando Magic got wind of it, they could shut the Rockets out completely. Plus the Magic are in a different situation with Mcgrady. They are the one taking offers for him. The Rockets have not gotten to the point to where they feel they need to take offers for Francis. If the deal with Mcgrady falls through, then they will be in the position Orlando is in with Mcgrady, and they will start taking offers for Francis. Right now the Rockets are in the more favorable position of making an offer rather than taking offers. Lets keep it like that for as long as we can.
If we did pull off a Chandler/Hinrich for SF, that would be a nice lineup: PG: Hinrich SG: Mobley SF: JJ PF: Chandler C: Yao Bench: Cato, MoT, Spoon, Adrian Griffin, Boki, Padgett, Wilks Just need some SG and SF FAs and it would be a pretty good squad.
Hey, if this deal goes through, I'll be more than happy to sacrifice myself. Although I did misspell a word the other day.

Agreed, I believe McGrady will end up in Houston but that there will more teams involved. This trade will eclipse the complexity of the trade to procure Francis. In the end the Magic will end up with a stockpile of draft picks and perhaps some servicable role players. Could not amd probably do not want speculate as to the other teams that will be involved. I want to keep my sanity.
The only reason I would explore other options, is to help ORL move Francis to somewhere else, such as CHI, for Chandler/Hinrich/Williams or for Chandler/Williams/#4, and then make them part of the trade, if need be. We need to do what it takes to make this happen, whatever that is, and I think that CD has the patience to do so, judging by his doggedness with getting Ming here from China.
