I would be interested to see side by side by side by side Last year- initial player offer- initial owner offer- final agreement Issue by issue. Someone will do this.
Love the 2023 schedule change and the reinstatement of Draft-Follow-Evaluate (Roy Oswalt being the biggest Astros name who was signed this way) Other things of note: 13 pitchers on the active roster limit will go into effect this year (was waived last 2 years due to COVID) Unvaccinated players cannot enter Canada, and will get no pay or service time for games missed in Toronto Advertising (patches on jerseys and decals on helmets) Games will be played in the following locations over the next 5 years: Mexico, Asia, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, London, Paris
Spring Training mandatory report date of Sunday, March 13 ST games begin March 17 Opening Day April 7
If all 8 of the player union reps voted against the CBA, but 26 of the teams voted for it, doesn't that mean that the 8 players are not a good reflection of the players overall?
So the rules changes (Shift, clock etc) were those adopted by the league or was the agreement that they could adopt those in the future with a 45 day notice and not having to go back to the PA for approval?
Most likely. I'm ignorant as to who those 8 players are but if its these players: https://www.mlbplayers.com/player-leadership Then you got 2 players from the Mets (Scherzer and Lindor), two players from the Yankees (Cole, Britton), one player from the Red Sox (Paxton), one from the Astros (Castro), one from St. Louis (Miller), and one from the Rangers (Semien). That's a pretty skewed 8-man committee, with heavy representation for the east coast. Lest we forget, about half of these guys are among the highest paid players in baseball.
And the 4 teams that voted against the proposal were represented by 6 of those players - Mets, Yankees, Cardinals and Astros
The 8 members of the executive committee voted against (those 8 players) and then 4 teams voted against to make the 12. Basically every vote against was tied to the executive committee and everyone that had no tie to the executive committee voted for. In summary- **** those guys- they were obviously not representing the union and allowed their views on the process to try to **** up the agreement. Dickheads. Castro likely stared at the agreement as it slid by him on the table into the strike zone and then b****ed about it. Then they went and told the clubs they had to vote against it. Everyone not part of the process on a minute by minute basis told the guys that were to **** off.
