I think people confuse confidence for arrogance. I've never thought that Jalen Green was an arrogant kid--he struck me more as someone who has high expectations of himself and isn't afraid to let others know about where he wants to be as a player. I was telling one of my buddies, if Jalen Green becomes a superstar (and I am rooting like hell for him to become one) he'll be one of the most fun players to cheer for. No off-court issues, hard worker, seems like a good dude to his fans...what's not to like?
this play perfectly encapsualtes why many of us think his ceiling is sky high. it's a totally basic up and under move but the amount of separation he gets makes it looks like he's breaking the rules.
Great performance last night. That midrange pull up with like 2 min left and the score tied he hit reminded me of a Tmac or KD type shot. When he's in rhythm he can get that anytime he wants. He's showing he has a real chance to the the best scorer in this draft. I know Cade technically has slightly more PPG, but he's getting way more shot attempts and touches to do that. Even with Green's poor start to the year, his TS% is significantly better.
Not directed to any 1 person in particular, but applicable to many. Imagine priding yourself on your basketball knowledge and acumen as well as your ability to analyze the game and evaluate players, but giving up on a 19 year old after only 1 month into their rookie NBA season. A guy who was playing high school basketball not too long ago and who's best basketball coaching and development happened over the course of an abbreviated 15 game G-League season courtesy of the great Brian Shaw. Imagine doing this while also being shown over and over statistical evidence that clearly indicated that almost every 19 year old player that fits the Jalen Green archetype struggled similarly at the same age unless they were still in college. *shrugs Couldn't be me. Can't relate.
In my defense, I wanted Green to come off the bench because it would give him some breathing room to get better looks against the other teams' bench players...and also because Gary Bird was shooting lights out lol.
Ayy good looking out. I was thinking about buying one but now i'll hold off. Did he mention it recently? Don't recall seeing anything about it.
