Nah, I'm good, I don't want to be around when you guys start drinking the kool-aid down at Jalenstown.
Frankly at this point, nobody knows where any of the rookies are going. I recall when the 2009 NBA draft had two rookie of the years in consecutive seasons, both Tyreke Evans (who put up stats not seen since Lebron as a rookie) and Blake Griffin looked like the two sure fire players in the draft. Curry and Harden were complete afterthoughts until after their 4th-5th season in the league, and now the former 2 players are not even near the same tier as the latter two.
Yes, this is technically all true, but if those guys are all untouchable, then they're not getting traded. Technically the literal definition would be the best young star is the only real untouchable. I'm just saying that right now he's the guy you have to plan to build around. Sure, if some unbelievable deal came about, you would have to consider it. I was Mobley over Green, though I considered it to be close... So I'm not trying to say I was right or anything. I'm just saying that they're in asset accumulation mode and it's logical for this team right now to consider Jalen Green as their foundation piece. That doesn't mean they can't add a player BETTER than Jalen. What sparked this thread was views I see a lot about how many guys are part of the core -- Tate and KPJ both really illustrate that. I'm even seeing Christian Wood pick up some steam lately. They have to keep accumulating assets and see who rises to the top. There's just very little chance, in my opinion, that the Rockets have 3-4 of their starters already for an eventual championship-level team.
honestly I can't believe you didn't call Clutch a stupid person you must be going soft in your old age
Green is part of the core because of the investment of the #2 pick, simple as that. At 19 years old...you have to see how that pans out, which means keeping him around for at least a couple more years. But Sengun has shown enough flashes of being a special player that you also have to keep him. Again, you have a guy who is only 19, and his qualifying offer will be south of 8 million in 2026, when he's still just 23 years old. That's the exact kind of player you need to hold onto if you want to build a winning team without breaking the bank.
I think what I said just flew over your head. You like to double down on bad analysis. You are doing it now.
As of now we’re still trying to build a core and it will be easier to answer the question next season after the draft and we’ve likely traded Wood and Gordon. As of now I can say that Green, KPJ, Sengün, Christopher, Martin Jr and maybe Tate are guys that will be with this team going forward for at least the next 3-4 years, but I personally believe at least 2 of those names that I mentioned could potentially be traded.
Stop moving the goal post Here are the two statement u made that stood out to me the most. Statement 1: With a competent O line and receivers that will catch the ball, Watson wouldn't be the best option. This was wrong from the beginning, watson was clearly the superior player from the getgo. College Football Champion, clearly skilled player, but u had weird ass fascination with Savage. Statement 2: Green is at least a few years away from being an NBA Caliber Player This was you having a knee jerk reaction after Green had a poor start. How does that apply to whatever sht u trying to imply? Theses are clear definite statement u made. none of this statement only applied at "this moment bs" U made sht statements over the years, its okay to admit it.
lol at Suggs and Kuminga. Of course they say yes. The Rockets of course say no. the other 4 are having as good or better years as Green so it’s not complicated analysis. more to the point none of those are remotely possible. It’d be like saying would the Rockets trade Green for Ja. Sure… but it’s not happening. which is my point. For any trade where the other team would be willing to do it it’s almost assuredly not a trade the Rockets would want to do.
I guess there is a difference between core and foundation piece? It depends on how you define core. To me there's a difference between the tip of the spear and who you can fit around that guy. Core isn't a set number of players. Core doesn't necessarily define skill either. Core is more team identity and fit than who it is setting the tone.
To be honest Curry was lucky to have that kind of team because I am not sure he would have won those on his own with the Knicks, yeah, they would have drafted him. Harden and Curry ringless or 1 ring. That would be an unfavorable outcome.
I stand by the Rockets having a 3 player core of Sengun, KPJ, and Green. IMO tonight helped prove that. All 3 compliment one another.
