Where'd our man Stephen Silas end up? https://open.spotify.com/episode/6Wtj7rjxxrWyhVPvS1J9VF?si=3351042b520647b2 Part 1 https://open.spotify.com/episode/4eil2dWEVfBehRkps7FBNF?si=0b807b3c27db4cba Part 2 These tiers are fuzzy, because they disagree sometime and their tiers are different, but I made some judgment calls based on their comments. Listen for more context. Tier 1 Erik Spoelstra (Miami) Monty Williams (Suns) Nick Nurse (Toronto) Ty Lue (Clippers) Tier 2 Steve Kerr (Warriors) Mike Budenholzer (Bucks) Quinn Snyder (Utah) Rick Carlisle (Pacers) Taylor Jenkins (Grizzlies) Mike Malone (Denver) Frank Vogel (Lakers) Tier 3 Ime Udoka (Boston) Gregg Popovich (San Antonio) Doc Rivers (Philly) Steve Nash (Brooklyn) Chris Finch (MInnesota) Billy Donovan (Chicago) Mark Daigneault (Oklahoma City) Willie Green (New Orleans) Tier 4 Nate McMillan (Atlanta) Jason Kidd (Dallas) J.B. Bickerstaff (Cleveland) Tier 5 Tom Thibodeau (New York) Dwayne Casey (Pistons) James Borrego (Charlotte) Chauncey Billups (Portland) Wes Unseld Jr (Wizards) Jamahl Mosley (Magic) Tier 6 Stephen Silas (Rockets) (Hollinger had him last, Duncan 29th) Alvin Gentry (Kings) Comments on Silas:
So basically we have a “yes” man placeholder? Nooo! ——> /S. Hey wouldn’t it be cool if Jalen could attract Spoelstra as new coach in a few years with the Pinoy connection?
this list is mad suspect Ime Udoka in tier 3 after the job he’s been doing? Stop it… Pop in Tier 3? Nash in tier 3 when he belongs with Silas?
Lol at our true tank commander. I ain’t even mad, can’t wait to play the lottery odds the next 2 years and hopefully end up with young star level talent so we can get a competent coach once his contract expires.
They said their criteria is which coach would you want now for the next 4 years. Popovich's teams have slipped on defense and haven't kept up with the modern NBA.
I'm personally not sure Silas is that much worse than a lot of their Tier 5 guys. I'd rather take a coach with some upside to grow than some of those scrubs like McMillan, Thibodeau, etc. JB Bickerstaff in Tier 4? We saw him first hand. He wouldn't be doing any better with this roster. I don't take a lot away from this, just sharing because why not.
I was going to say… these guys list of things is about as valid as any of ours. not that I love Silas or anything. Just who cares what these bozos think? what next… look to Chad “I’ll retroactively change my pre-draft analysis yrs after the fact” Ford for draft prospect profiles?
When you typed this, my thought was “ok good so I’m not the only one who realizes he’s lost it and at this point is really bad”.
I don’t even think he’s worse than Steve Nash. If Nash is Tier 3, then Silas should be up there too. Silas and Nash should be neighbors.
