Would he welcome it enough to opt out and sign there for the minimum or an exception? Because that’s what it would take to get him there. The Wizards don’t have a plausible way to match salaries in a desirable way for the Rockets.

**** that. I am keeping the picks and letting John expire. In fact, his expiring might just have value at the deadline.

We wouldn't give up an asset to offload Wall I don't believe.
    • Wall sitting out if games doesn't hurt our goal of obtaining and developing young talent
    • Wall expiring is not the same horrible contract Rockets traded for with plenty of years remaining. It's just one year
    • Even though it's 1 year, it's still kind of hard to match in a win win trade
    • We could benefit from his expiring salary given we do not have our picks 2024 and would need to start competing for play-in/playoffs. Whether that's 2024 free agents (meh free agents) or remaining flexible for 2025
    • There's still the Lakers that could make a move for Wall for Westbrook + pick

I'd gladly take Hachimura and Avdija for John Wall...totally fair trade :p

in 10 year - John Wall will never be remembered as a former NBA player.

He will probably be in prison / broke from NBA life.

Would Wizards welcome a reunion though lol? Either way we are better off letting him expire worthless if we have to attach a pick to send him out

They don’t have the salary without moving Beal or Porzingis.

Probably demand a buyout in the off season, signs with them for a MLE. Kemba Walker style

I think the Lakers are going to revisit that Westbrook-for-Wall trade this summer.

Yeah I just double-checked the salaries and there's no trade available, unless Washington wants to deal Kristaps to us - which, of course, they don't.

Exactly. Until the Lakers trade brick, that contract will be our carrot to dangle in front of them. The other piece of leverage we have is that Wall will have to come off the bench or take a hefty buyout if the rockets do not trade him. Because I do not see him taking another year off. Stone is right for making someone else blink first.

Considering how injury-prone Embiid is, I would not have been opposed to taking on Harris’ extra year in a three-teamer with the Wizards - Beal going to Philly - for Sixers picks, but they basically can’t trade any so...nah.

    Beal to the 76ers
    Wall to the Wizards
Harris + draft compensation to the Rockets

    I'd think about it!
Not sure what pick/s Philly has to give, or what Washington would want to give...
