John C Reilly is so perfect as Jerry Buss.

I'm curious how they handle the mid-80's cocaine days.

You know, the ones that destroyed the Rockets.

Just looked through the cast...no Michael Jordan character, and somehow no Ralph Sampson? Maybe IMDB isn't complete.

It felt a little cheesy/overacted at times but this is fun.

This just looks so freakin cheesy, but I will watch just to see how wild and crazy it was in the 80's being a Laker in LA.

So far pretty good, but the talking to the camera shtick is kind of distracting.

I watched the first episode and thought the portrayal of Jerry West seemed really off based on what I’ve read about him.

It’s a comedy/drama, so it doesn’t have to strive for accuracy or anything, but Jerry West’s life story is so harrowing (and inspiring) it just seemed weird to make him this small, narrow-minded, angry character. Maybe there will be some redemption for the character later in the series or something.

Watched the latest episode......had no idea about the Tark stuff which apparently was pretty close to what really happen.....

Winning Time episode 3 ends on a big cliffhanger as Jerry Tarkanian's right-hand man Vic Weiss is found dead. A few days after he was last seen, Vic Weiss' body is found in the trunk of his Rolls Royce. This comes after Weiss and Tarkarian are seemingly threatened by unnamed mobsters while at dinner with Jerry Buss. The end of Winning Time episode 3 doesn't reveal the answer of who killed Vic Weiss, which is due to the fact that no one was ever charged for the murder. The prevailing theory is that he was killed by gangsters due to his gambling debts and the large sums of money he owed. While Winning Time gets most of the details of Vic Weiss' death correct, it adds some narrative flair to the moment by having one of Jerry Buss' cards tucked away in Vic's suit. There is no record of this happening, as Weiss' body didn't even have a wallet or driver's license with it. Instead, the show could be setting up the cops questioning the Lakers' new owner if he knows what happens.
