Agree that Schroeder is doing a decent job of setting up Green. It's also helpful to have him run the point with KPJ at the 2-guard position. KPJs stats don't look bad as a PG, but he just doesn't show natural PG instincts. That hurts Greens development.

As for Nix, he's not as high on the priority list as Green, Christopher, and Sengun. I'd love to se what he can do with minutes, and e might see it, but Schroeder no doubt helps with the development of Green.

I feel like the staff is throwing as many guards out there as possible to see who works out. It's hard to imagine keeping all of them in the future. Perhaps one or two will be packaged as part of a trade if they show promise.

I like his attitude, his desire. Looking forward to seeing what he can do at the point for the Rockets. Hope that isn't wishful thinking.

Nix should get 10-15 games as back up pg toward end of year.

I like the kid's backstory. Hopefully he does well and gets back into shape. Not to mention, I hope his performance in the G League somehow translates to the NBA. Hell, I just hope he gets playing time. We'll see.

The starting point guard was struggling last night. Josh Chris and Eric Gordon attempting to take turns playing backup point guard was a disaster that ultimately lost them the game along with not being able to defend Boogie Cousins. Why didn’t Nix get an opportunity? If Silas was afraid that he wasn’t ready and would turn the ball over that’s laughable considering the Benny Hill Show basketball comedy we were forced to watch from our point guards last night.

Guards is pretty much ALL that we have to throw out there.

Nix gets 2 minutes. Yeah, wishful thinking on my part.

I see why you're asking but the answer is as simple as ever.

Silas isn't a good coach and extremely stubborn

Yeah file this under my long list of questions I’ve had this year.

    1. Why is KPJ starting at point guard instead of on the wing?
    2. Why is Daniel Theis starting?
    3. Why is Wood bringing the ball up the court?
    4. Why doesn’t Sengun play more minutes.
    5. Why is Jalen Green standing in the corner?
    6. Why is Sengun above the 3 point line so much?
    7. Why isn’t Sengun getting the ball in the high or low post?
    8. Why doesn’t Jalen Green get to handle the ball more?
    9. Why didn’t we trade Wood and Gordon?
    10. Why didn’t we waive Schroder?
    11. Why did Josh Christopher’s minutes get cut? (Now he sucks)
    12. Why aren’t we playing Nix as the backup point guard?

Daishen Nix, with a strong start in G League, offers Rockets a glimpse of future

    Some excerpts:

There are no immediate plans to work Nix into the rotation. His most extended playing time will likely come when he returns to the Vipers.
    ________________________

“There isn’t a part of his game he hasn’t improved,” Rockets general manager Rafael Stone said. “You expect it given his age, but it doesn’t always happen. But he’s gotten better in every single facet of his game. Nineteen-year-olds are supposed to get better rapidly but it is what we hoped to see.

“If RGV is not the best team in the league, they are for sure top two or three. The fact that he is leading that, and he truly is the engine for that team, is what we very much hoped to see.”
    ________________________

"I’ve progressed being a leader on the court, being the point guard, getting the team involved,” Nix said. “My ultimate goal on the court is to get everybody on the court better. Everybody I played with has gotten better. My shooting has progressed a lot. My confidence and my defense have also taken a step up, too.

“I think being a point guard is (about) turning good players into great players and bad players into good players, getting them better every single day I step on the court with them.”

The Rockets will not ask all of that of him, yet. He played only the final two minutes on Friday in Denver, even with Dennis Schröder out with a sprained ankle. Schröder is day-to-day but the Rockets begin a back-to-back on Sunday against the Grizzlies, likely keeping Nix with the team while Schröder or Eric Gordon could have to miss one of those games.
    _________________________

“The shooting has been great,” Silas said. “He’s shooting 40 (percent) from 3. The change of pace and making plays for his teammates have been really good, and controlling the game from the point guard position. He’s been the maestro as well as finding his own offense, which is a big step for a 20-year-old.”
    _________________________

Nix said he never questioned his decision to play the abbreviated season with the Ignite, rather than to play college basketball, and never lost confidence. Green never doubted, as he said that night Nix’s name was not called.

“I’ve been saying it,” Green said. “He’s just a true point guard. He looks to get everyone else involved. He’s going to space the floor. He’s going to run the floor. And on top of that, if you’re not going to respect him, he’s going to get a bucket. He has an all-around game. He’s strong, built, plays defense. I always knew.”

perhaps then they are even dumber than we taught cause you can absolutely tank and develop the youngsters optimally in the same time...

Welp, the train has finally arrived in Houston once again...let’s hope that it can carry us home to the finish line.

Now how do we hop off the Wood express?

Nix needs some extended time on the court now he’s up again.

He needs to adapt to the speed of the game and learn to play with our other pieces.

I think you can see glimpses of a good floor general, but he needs to adapt to the other core pieces we have and not gum the works up.

Good minutes from Nix against the Heat. Loved the couple of minutes he was leading the offense against the zone in the first half. Garry Bird´s injury in the 1st half changed the rotation and benefited him. Not sure what changed minute wise in the 2nd half, but definitely less handling opportunities.

I thought he played well last night in the few minutes I saw him on the floor. Attacked the basket and got to the rim. Distributed well and didn't appear sloppy with the basketball. Defensively, his size is nice to have and should allow him to switch on multiple positions, but I wasn't watching too closely on that end. I'd like to see more of him these last few games of the season. Rest Schroder and Gordon; just let the young guys play!
