Here’s one of them that clearly shows him defending at the 3 pt line that you somehow think he isn’t.

The post of someone that realizes they have lost an argument and realize they can’t keep up intellectually.
I’ll leave you alone now. You can go cry in the car.

IF he really feels that way then its his own opinion and he's entitled to it. It shows how emotionally invested some people get in conversations that tend to ebb and flow. Its all about preference. Plenty of valid concerns about Chet that are voiced in many places outside of Clutch Fans. For as much criticism as Banchero gets its odd that the other guys in the discussion have seemingly been immune to the noise. Jabari for example has his reputation as a lock down defender and having all the measurables to be great defensively is the story, but then you find out Paolo shares those same measurables and some similar defensive stats yet he's the "worst" defender. I feel strongly that P5s game will be just fine in the NBA if "defensive intensity" is the extent of why Banchero is not viewed favorably - a kid 26 games removed from high school being tasked with being the fulcrum for Duke basketball taking plays off on defense doesnt rattle me as much as others I guess. Paolo leading up to this last game was being questioned as being more than a black hole on offense. That he was a flow killer and was just stat padding for draft position, but he put an emphasis on passing and came away with 9 assists AND showed touch from the outside - thats kind of a big deal. He's aware that teams are scouting his one dribble spin into the lane and he's working on those issues in real time and on the fly per game. Its impressive to me.

“Criticism may not be agreeable, but it is necessary. It fulfils the same function as pain in the human body. It calls attention to an unhealthy state of things.” - Winston Churchill.

    1. Chet Holmgren
I don’t care that his body makes rookie Kevin Durant look like retired Raymond Felton, this is a 7’1” sharpshooting, shot-blocking, playmaking, board-gobbling, ball-handling center with a 7’6” wingspan. The only concern here is the level of competition Chet’s faced so far has been Michael Cage church league level. If Holmgren keeps it up in the tourney, he locks up the #1 spot.

    2. Jabari Smith, Jr.
Ask me yesterday and I probably had Jabari at #1. Ask me tomorrow and he might be back at #1. Not sure how Karl-Anthony Towns is out here claiming he’s the greatest big man shooter of all time while Jabari Smith, Jr. exists. This son of a former King/76er/Net also plays some top shelf defense as well. The lack of dribbling or attacking the basket are the only worries keeping him from the top spot.

    3. Jaden Ivey
The jaw-dropping athleticism, excitement and explosion to the rim of Ja Morant or a young Russell Westbrook. Ivey comes with a jump shot, though. Jaden is shooting 37% from distance and 75% from the free throw line. Yeah, a big is the most pressing positional need. But Ivey has superstar potential. And that’s Sam Presti’s Plan A.

    4. Shaedon Sharpe
I know what you’re thinking. This dude hasn’t played a single minute of college, G-League or international hoops and you’re putting him above Paolo–are you nuts? Exhibit A: Sharpe was rated as the #1 prospect in the 2022 class. Exhibit B: Kentucky coach John Calipari had this to say: “This kid comes back, he’s the No. 1 draft pick. How can I say I know what the No. 1 draft pick looks like? Because I’ve had four. That’s why I can say what it looks like.” I’ll save you the time: Derrick Rose, John Wall, Anthony Davis and Karl-Anthony Towns. If Presti misses out on the top three, I say take a superstar swing. Last time OKC acquired a Calipari-hyped Kentucky guard from Canada whose named started with a Shae sound, it turned out pretty well.

    5. AJ Griffin
Why has AJG leapfrogged his Duke teammate, who is a contender for the top spot in most mock drafts, into my top five? Let me count the ways. 1. He’s shooting over 49% from long range on four attempts per game. 2. He’s a high pedigree five-star recruit. 3. His dad was a 10 year NBA vet and is now one of the best assistant coaches in the league. 4. His mom was a track star for Seton Hall (shout out SGA’s mom). 5. He’s 6’6” with a 7’0” wingspan, has a powerful NBA-ready body and plus athleticism. 6. He excels off-ball, so he could be the perfect floor spacing small forward next to SGA and Giddey, but he can create his own shot as well. 7. He’s strong, quick and long enough to defend shooting guards through power forwards. 8. Did I mention he’s hitting half his 3-pointers?

    6. Paolo Banchero
Look, I know this low of a ranking for a player still in contention for the #1 overall pick screams hot take. I just don’t know which elite NBA talent Paolo possesses besides possibly shot creation, but even then he doesn’t score efficiently even at the collegiate level surrounded by two other first round picks. He’s not a plus defender. He’s only shooting 33% from the 3-point line. He’s not an elite athlete. Banchero still deserves top five hype because he is a skilled big with an NBA physique and has the ability to create shots, be a solid playmaker and does everything pretty well. Paolo’s floor is high. He’s gonna help any team. I just don’t see the superstar upside that I do with the players above him.

AJ Griffin's dad should talk to his son.

It seems Chet is viewed by some as the second coming of KG (but better). While I see the draw to Holmgren as a prospect I just recoil at the hyperbole. The hype machine is in overdrive on this one due to him being a white, American player IMO. The media and fans were always going to have his expectations be over the top. And that, as much as anything, scares me.

So he’s only perceived as a top prospect because he’s white?
That is a dumb ass opinion. Sorry.
The kid is a top tier talent because he’s a unique prospect. Super athlete, long, elite defense, elite shooter. And has done it for longer than any other top prospect at a high level.
    BTW, Paolo’s dad is white.

    Edit:
He’s been compared to KG by guys that do this for a living. Anywhere from KG, KD, Porzingis, Mobley.

And back to your stupid race discussion. He’s probably hates on more because he’s white and good than he’s propped up, specially by the dumbass people on this forum

Banchero is an offense first player that isn’t a good shooter. Solid playmaker but not a lead guy. And an average rebounder for his size.
He’s still a project. He offers very little in terms of defense and isn’t a lead scorer.
He’s somewhere between Julius Randle and a poor man Carmelo

I didn't say his race is the only reason he's seen as a top prospect. In fact, I have tried to always acknowledge he has a high ceiling as a prospect. What I said was his race contributes to the hype surrounding him that is just over the top.

The hype isn’t over the top.
The hate is more over the top, probably because he’s white.
The kid has been the number one player in the country for 3 years. There aren’t many players in history that can compare to what he can do. He’s performed at elite levels anywhere he’s played.
There are literally only a hand full of players in history that can do what he can do at that size. Whether that’s athleticism, shooting, handles, defense. It doesn’t matter

This is precisely the kind of stuff I'm talking about. The kid is a solid, solid prospect whose ceiling could be amazing. But then you toss in this gem about being #1 for 3 years running. Kuminga was the #1 prospect in that class until he reclassified. Last year. Check your facts man.

Edit: also, Jalen Suggs was Chets teammate and Minnesota Mr basketball in 2020. So Holmgren might not have been the best player in his own teams the last 3 years.

I’m 100% positive of my facts. Chet has been the number one prospect in class of 21/22 for 3 years including this year.
Kuminga was never ahead once reclassified and depending on ranking they were 1&2

And you can find different recruiting sites that had them swapped.
He’s far more than a “nice” prospect.
He’s done more than Kuminga pre-NBA. Has done more than Paolo and Jabari too.
If anything, Paolo is the nice prospect.
Chet and Jabari are the two that can be elite
