To much of my chagrin, the team has been tanking all year first and foremost, mixed in with some team and individual development. I expected 25 wins with the hope of faster pace getting some easier baskets and perhaps a few more wins, possibly 30 wins; but it always seems a tank commander takes over to steer the ship aground in the 4th quarter during close games. John Wall had that role with the team last season, Eric Gordon and Wood seem to have embraced that role this year. Now Schroder will make sure these young kids don't get too excited and actually win some games in the 4th quarter for the rest of the season. Why should I fire Silas for accomplishing the ultimate goal of bringing me one of Jabari Smith, Chet or Banchero?--[quote the Tilman thoughts]
Sure every Houston fan wants one of those three players, but if that is the stated goal why not just throw out all the kids and let them get valuable experience? Why in the freaking world are we wasting time with Gordon????? Would give the Nix kid a chance. Would play Christopher a heck of a lot more. Would make sure Sengun is getting 30 minutes a game….etc. Makes no sense whatsoever in this wasted season playing 33 year old players and other vets.
Because the young players want to excel and prove they belong.....that they are as good as the other teams seasoned vets. They lack the facet handle to open the water flow and most importantly close the flow of water (success).....goes back to "Tanking mentality"
The Rox are rebuilding and trying to tank what's the point of upgrading the coach? I'd only look at replacing him if he still sucks AND the Rox are done tanking. Most tank jobs last 3+ years so the smart thing to do is keep him till his contract expries and evaluate him then.
I dunno man I think the Rox are a year away from being a year away from being ready. Even if they get Chet or Jabari Smith next year I think they can do 1 more year of tanking.
so its ok for a bad coach to ruin all the young players and mess with their development during the rebuild and create a culture of losing and bad habits?? whats the point of upgrading coach? hahahahahahhaha my good ness is that whats this all has come to? its to have a good coach ...no other reason needed ...besides new coach needs to develop chemistry and continuity with players as well as develop his own experience on the job... ...because when the new coach arrives and they decide to win the tank will otherwise continue under the guise well hes a genius just give him a few seasons...hes new to the team and players....hes not given a fair hand...he inherited a team with bad habits...they lack chemistry...the parts dont fit...he needs players that fits his philosophy..etc etc when they still suck we will be hearing well he didnt have all the players in training camp...later on... well hes a genius its juts that his players are young...later on well hes a genius its juts that its a trade deadline and a lot of upheaval in the roster or hes got to play the vets to trade them.. wait until the next season and full training camp...oh its corona time.. oh its a war time oh its this oh its that....... later on....oh its a new gm..oh its a new owner..oh its a new city...oh its this oh its that
lol eric gordon has nothing on the young guys... they absolutely dont need him except to learn how to secure the bag and give absolutely nothing to their team...a low bbiq player
lol what a lover of losing i sure dont expect an Apache warrior to be so defeatistically inclined... A REAL SHAME
I don't disagree with that But I would like to see by mid season of next year: 1) greater improvement of Tate/Kenyon (3-pt shooting) 2) greater improvement of Green (strength & girth) 3) Kevin Porter jr (maintain consistency like over last 14 gms) 4) Wood play within the Off/Def schemes (not just building up his trade value) 5) Sengun (endurance, passing as hub near 3-pt line like Olynyk did for Rockets, 3-pt % shooting for 82 gms) 6) more cutting/slashing by everyone (not as stagnant as this year) 7) Defense, defense, defense *grant it, most of these things are off the court work during the offseason I don't know where Eric Gordon fits....why he is still here? Guess he just asked to stay? ---------------------------- Much more easier to incorporate one player (Jabari, Chet, or Banchero) with those having knowledge of the same system than wholesale group, like this season.
i feel like we're content to sit on hands and do nothing while we try to accumulate high draft picks while tanking - and thats it... We're not using the time where we dont care about winning to build a culture, or to develop young talent or to try to finagle a few deals to get us future assets and flexibility... We're continuing to coddle players (now mid level talent), we're running vets to much when kids need some burn, we made like 0 investment in trying to move Wall or just moving other vets that would open up minutes and/or garner some return or future flexibility... It all just seems so... lazy.... like... oh we can just say 'trust the process' for a few years - and get a free pass on doing anything else...
Nah, I blame Stone MUCH more than Silas. Sure Silas is incompetent, but he's nothing more than a tanking coach......a sacrificial lamb to pretend to be the coach during the terrible years that you will dump the second the team is done being awful and is ready to start playing for real.
This. As Stone said, Silas is "alligned" w upper management. They are clearly tanking (playing sorry for Jabari). If they are not tanking, he is awful at coaching. He does not have much to work with roster wise, but could get a few more wins if that were the goal
