Ms Jackson's nomination would be more celebrated if she had beaten out a field of all potential candidates. Biden limiting the selection pool to only black females actually diminishes the honor of her being selected. People will look at her as a diversity pick and not as the clear cut best candidate. This has always been the unintended consequence with affirmative action... it's not fair to Ms Jackson, quite honestly. Diversity picks like this are always tainted and will carry the stigma -- often unfairly -- of being less qualified for the position. Biden boxed himself into a corner during the election and had to pull this stunt... and now Ms. Jackson suffers the consequence (lowered expectations, whispers that she's unqualified, whispers of beating out an artificially small candidate pool).
