That's a bit harsh, but... Anyone who watched pre-draft interviews with Cunningham, Green, Mobley, Barnes, Suggs, Giddey, etc. and didn't come out the other side thinking Green was clearly lacking in basketball acumen compared to the others, well...I don't know what to say.
I guess he missed a lot of dunks? I have just seen all the completed dunks on Youtube and there Jalen looked good - especially his 360 between the legs dunk was really nice. Toppin was impressive, especially his throw it at the backboard, between the legs, two handed dunk. He deserved the win. Overall it seems like there is a lack of creativity - some years there was too much creativity, now its more like figure skating of how good can you do this trick.
He lacked proper speech training when he was young though for someone who went all way to high school.
Remember the wheel of dunks? Francis had to compete against the greatest dunker of all time (VC) then got taken out in a later year by the wheel. The slam dunk contest is a cycle. People b****. Rules are changed. People b****. Rules are relaxed and so on. The solution is to permanently kill the contest.
Or stop it 2 years......Dudes would watch it again after a hiatus. Permanently is too lengthy for people that have 80-90 life spans.
Jalen Green’s 2nd dunk was probably the best of the night even tho it was mediocre Toppin got a 46 for a reverse power layup, and Tuscano was even more embarrassing than Green Jalen Green underwhelming was easily overshadowed by this dunk contest being the worst ever this fool Cole Anthony was doing all that dancing and taking 5 minutes to put on some Timbs just to suck…it’s like doing all this and underneath is some spam and untoasted white bread
The judges just were fed up with all the dunk attempts, you could tell. Tuscano was better than I thought, I even thought he was just a scrub. Overall, you had to bring in Mobley, Anthony Edwards, Lavine again to make the crowd go wild. Did Giannis ever participate?
Long time ago 2015. Lavine won that one, deservedly so. Lebron ducked the dunk contest all his NBA career.
The night was saved by Mobley and Karl Anthony Towns so there was little top it off unless they had massive dunks to go. Lebron was smart, he knew he was not creative. He just does his tomahawks. The thing people do not emphasize, Lebron is actually a better chase down blocker than dunker IMO. I think that is his trademark.
Yeah even though Kobe didnt play that well starting out, at least when he spoke you knew he was an intelligent young man. Not saying Jalen doesnt have his smarts but perhaps not Kobe smarts
Definitely didn't focus on phonetics, articulation. But the most important thing, he did not start playing ball until it was late and his fundamentals are pretty shot. He could do track and field and you wouldn't know he was a basketball player. Scoring is impressive though but half the league are scorers.
I don’t give a rat’s twitch about this sht; it’s not basketball, it’s acrobatics. However, I’m fascinated at how @jiggyfly called it that Green would embarrass himself. I thought acrobatics was his thing…
I dunno… F’sure he sounds quite ditzy, like some Valley girl. Maybe an act, for his Insta followers, who knows. In any case, I wish our "future" "franchise" "player" had more of the demeanor of a serious baller. But it is what it is.
First it was the "girly" look, now he can't talk and is dumb. What's next, his dong is not long enough to be a good player? You people are truly amazing.
Look at his IG. This dude is all about flaunting his possessions than he is about basketball. Jalen would be one of those guys celebrating a meaningless win in that Kobe gif while Kobe is looking over with a stern face. That’s the only link Jalen has with Kobe—a gif.
Ja Morant just posted a video on IG of him and his buddy throwing around cash in a plane and showing off their jewelry. Same energy there or because he's winning right now, he is about that basketball stuff, huh?
