"Critical race theory" is another boogie man to distract people from what the real problems are in this country.
https://www.si.com/tech-media/2022/...nesota-governor-campaign-nbc-sports-departure “I got to a point in my life where I wanted to try other things, and there are some things that are really important to me,“ Tafoya told The Athletic. ”This is not to say that sports isn’t an important field, that my job isn’t an important job. But in my position, I was not as free to be as vocal about world events that I’m concerned about. It’s not because I was told to shut up. I want to be very clear about that. But look, if you’re on a show like Sunday Night Football, which is the No. 1 show in prime time for 11 straight years, unprecedented, the last thing they want to do is invite controversy.
II always wondered if Tafoya was black. The internet says she is mixed. I like her as a sideline reporter.
It wouldn't surprise me if she does. As is she is going to be campaign manager for one of the Republicans running for governor of MN. I'm not familiar with the candidate she's working for and my guess is he doesn't make it out of the primaries. It's possible she might run for office in MN herself sometime down the road.
I imagine she got a ton of offers after her appearance on the View in November when she played the Meghan McCain role for a few episodes. Probably decided that the money is more plentiful and the work is easier just spouting right-talking points whether you believe them or not.
This may be the best strategy to combatting the anti-CRT bills - conservative politicians may have contempt for the perspectives of people of color but many fewer of them want to come across as insensitive to the Holocaust. https://www.timesofisrael.com/wyoming-legislature-rejects-critical-race-theory-ban-after-jewish-lawmakers-speech/amp/
I don't agree with the conclusions of CRT but this is still a good story to me. A politician risking his position for his beliefs. When was the last time you saw that?
Politicians oftentimes "risk" their position because of their beliefs. Not that Beto would have been the Democratic nominee in 2020, but when he said "Hell, yes, we're going to take your AR-15, your AK-47.", he lost any chance and jeopardized his chances for his planned gubernatorial run. Anytime they dig their heels in on controversial subjects they run the risk of losing their next election or committee assignments.
The ones discussed earlier in the thread. Don't have time for ridiculousness. This thread started in May and is over 50 pages. You can go back and read through it
Beto talking about taking assault rifles isn't on the level of what this guy did. You missing the element of where he is. and his constituents Plenty people want to ban assault rifles, even in Texas
Opposition have painted it to make Boomers panic at the thought that their grandkids will be worse at Thanksgiving than their insufferable weak-kneed latte sipping children. Ofc, if they don't give a **** about minorities in the first place, it works hand in hand. Cons are masters at simplifying issues info root emotions/symbols and giving the offender an easy way out. Libs usually give one **** choice and another bitter tasting alternative.
have always like So Calif native Michelle Tafoya; but like Mario Bartiromo, she has gone to the dark side. Michele Tafoya Will Co-Chair GOP Gubernatorial Campaign in Minn
