Alright, why are we doing this, we made the pick, its over, done. Green is gonna take time and that is fine. If we all got a do over, we all would be picking Barnes or Mobley, thats should be the end of it imo. We cant get the pick back but who knows how good Jalen will be.
i agree with the turning the page sentiment, but that includes accountability for the GM if Green turns out to be significantly less of an impact player than Mobley….which certainly looks like the case. You don’t get to blow a #2 pick in one of the deepest drafts in years and not get significant scrutiny with respect to job performance. the scary thing is that Stone is gonna get another opportunity this year. I question his judgement.
We still don't know what Green will turn out to be. Some of you guys sounds like you came back from the future. Green is not as good as we hoped pre-draft. But he is also not a clear bust, like Thabeet or Bennett. Some of the other rookies are doing better. But that's no guarantee that they will be great players down the road. We've seen those great rookies who never got better. Every player has a different growth trajectory. You can't call out "accountability" of the FO when a guy they drafted hasn't even finished one season.
It is very irresponsible of them to not share their betting money with us. Intelligence, character are underrated talents indeed.
Well if that's the case, than we are screwed regardless. Nothing matters then. We would have to boycott the Rockets and get Fertitta out of there.
i said if he doesn’t turn out to be the impact player that Mobley is. I agree with you that you can’t know if he’s a bust this early. But I think it is clear there are rookies who have shown more developmental progress and look like they will be better players. green’s not gonna be in the remote conversation for ROY. Frankly he’s lucky he made the rising stars competition. As the #2 pick people are justified to be concerned. green may turn out to be a very good nba player but right now it looks like Houston got the pick wrong. Frankly Giddy and Kaminga look like they have higher upsides.
Stone better not let time idle by. He has to scout the next crop of players right now. Let the Green Gang have their spiritual get together and dream about possibilities, real work has to be done meanwhile.
Didn't catch the game but looking at box score. He looked alright? But team was blown out. It's hard to gauge green due to sht coach and selfish player like wood.
Green has developed more than any rookie thus far beginning of season to now. I haven't seen much improvement from anyone except Cade. If rookies who show development are the ones are likely to be good, Green is near/at top of that list. Did you mean whoever showed up most developed will be better players? Because that's not been true in NBA history.
honestly his mano y mano defense is pretty good for a rookie. I think he can be a good defender but it's going to take a coach that knows how to teach it and a defensive anchor type ala CP3 or Draymond to get that out of him.
Uh, no. Wrong thread for that lol. Would pick Green again. I don't see a 30ppg scorer in any of the other rookies.
I actually agree with this too. Well I don't know about picking Green if we had a do over but...I do think out of all the rookies he's still likely going to be the best scoring one out of them. Think about it. Green has shot poorly for most of this season and is still averaging 14ppg...efficient Green gets 20 points on a team that doesn't know how to share the ball and sometimes not even being the 3rd option and sometimes sitting out entire quarters. I could see Green being an elite scorer a lot easier than Mobley and Barnes. Not that it would make him a better player. Scoring comes a lot easier to Green though. This is why he went #2 and was never falling past 3. If his shot continues to improve...there's no guarding him. Get close he zips past you and give him space he knocks down a shot...and also finishes oops, plays well in transition, and can work on his off ball movement. He can score in a variety ways already, if he continues to work on that he's going to be an offensive terror. I do believe that. I think people were just wrong in projecting that he wasn't a project. He's a bit of a project, that's fine, but he still has amazing potential and if he does become a better defender then well...elite wing scoreres that can play good defense often go on to win rings.
Looking at everything I think Mobley is the ONLY rookie I would definitely take over him. Yeah the kid is more raw than we thought and had probably the worst 3 week stretch of his life, but this dude is already warping defenses with his explosion and making the right passes. Consistency on his shot will come. Y'all are tripping if you can't see the potential in this kid. Cade is slow. Barnes started hot but has holes. Giddey I haven't seen enough and Wagner is cooling down. It's probably a great draft and our guy is right there with all of them. Great attitude. Seems to be a good teammate and puts in the work. End rant.
We also don't know how good mobley or Barnes would be in our system with our players. It's just silly to leave through the what ifs bc it's so short term What if we get Chet and he goes on to being better than Mobely?
Why? There is no reason to choose Green over Mobley, Mobley has generational defensive potential with huge offensive upside. Barnes has great two wing star potential as well. You take those two almost every time imo. 30 ppg scorers isnt everything man, but we dont even know that he will be that, I hope you are right man.
