I like the Schroder pick up and hope the Rockets keep him, but am hearing from all the pros that they will waive him soon. Does anyone know the plan?
The plan is to save money in the front office With the players In the restaurants At Toyota center that is the plan. Imitation crab meat and sell It as actual crab
For the year sure. I mean if they can sign him to a cheap tradeable deal I'm sure they'll re-sign him or think about it.
Please don't max him. He's a decent PG, but still more of scorer point guard. Someone like CP with Alpi and Green...that would have been something. The biggest negative is Wood. KPJ is talented and gets his stats, but doesn't maximize Alpi and Green. So I guess from that perspective, I am warming to the idea of keeping Schroeder. But I would still not give him a max deal or anything like that.
he may want it, but that ship has sailed. If he was getting anything near a max, i think the celtics would have gotten a first rounder for him instead of theis. The fact of the matter is, even though he's a good pg, there are so many good ones in the NBA. he can start on a bad team, but how much is that worth, given he's reached his celiing in skills and athletiscm. I think he'll get a three year mid level deal with the third year being a player option. Or he can sign a cheap one year deal somewhere and hope to try again. But i think he knows he made a career crippling move and he's going to have to just accept the fact that no team is going to throw big money at him. There are PGs that come in the draft every year that teams can get on a cheap contract and he's competing with them, not to mention, late bloomers like jalen brunson.
I hope we keep him, and develop Nix. KPJ, Green, JGup are scorers (not PGs) who will benefit from his leadership on both ends of the court. I still wonder if Wood could be an effective 3, with a quality PG putting him in his place. If Tate, Martin, and Nwaba could learn to shoot corner 3s... oh my... All that athletic youth was fun to watch last night. Those stops and run-outs and alley-oops (well, the completion rate should increase with familiarity) were so refreshing. All we needed was solid PG play. It's our hope for the future.
Because he signed a one year deal, I don't believe the Rockets own his rights and they are still going to be over the cap, so unless he wants to sign for an exception, I think he will have to look elsewhere. I do think that he proves how much better a true PG on the team makes everyone else better, so maybe they can use his time here as a template for a PG (hopefully a little younger than Schroder) that they might want back when trying to trade Gordon (and possibly Wood) this offseason.
It's a really stupid idea, the chances that we'll sign him to a contract that will be worth more than Eric Gordon or Chritstian Wood in a trade is almost zero. Wasting time and we really do not need PG depth. Just give Christopher all those minutes. Bring Nix up. Schroeder is also bad at shooting, we are not short of players who don't shoot well. Whatever I guess, not a catastrophe but confusing.
I hope so. I would pay him enough to for him to accept a 6th man roll & to help develop KPJ snd be wha wall should’ve been. I think he’s be great off the bench for green and the other guys too KPJ has shown he’s improving. Give him a year or two with a quality vet to learn snd play with until KPJ & green are couple years older and ready to take over
