Silas is still a very good assistant coach.

    HC, not so much.

    Especially on a rebuilding team.

I've never seen anyone take 2 timeouts a game and sub his players every other quarter.

Well if there would have been a wide selection of choices then yeah I would rather have a good developmental coach but there were only 3 and they hired the worst one.... JVG can not possibly be worst at developing young players but I know for a fact he is way better than Silas at coaching in general which by the way is part of a young players development.

Honestly with what Nook said about how Silas doesn't really like coaching, I don't think he right for a rebuilding team seeing how he still has issues playing vets over his rookies(JC played like 8 mins) when Dennis played 18 and Silas said he plans on playing him more.

he needs to be sent to g league and stay there forever until he show he can coach...after that he should be given only 12 minutes of coaching a night until he proves he can actually contribute in nba

Because he thought he would be able to coach harden and Westbrook two vets that don't really need coaching.

There is a difference in just baby sitting grown players vs in game adjustments and effective calls.

Our talent level would be 13-15th place.

He is not overachieving or underachieving.

    He is not even there.

Agree 100%. Even simple things like shooting free throws are absolutely horrible with this team. Every player seems to shoot approximately 10% worse than their historical averages. Maybe the excuse is the team is young, but at least teach them to be experts at the basic fundamentals of the game. It’s cool that he smiles and jokes with officials and opposing coaches during and after the game, but not sure if that lack of intensity has caused some of the issues with assignments continually blown on offense and particularly defense. Players seem to emulate their head coach which makes sense for a young inexperienced team. Guarantee that wouldn’t hapoen as much with JVG.

That’s a fair point. I wasn’t looking at it as the best of the three that were available at that time but rather who would be the best fit with the team today as it stands today.

Exactly, I just wish I could watch our young guys playing with a good coach. Even JVG, I know there are behind the scenes things. We aren't there at practice, we don't know who is actually earning their minutes. We don't know the strategy Silas is implementing but these many games into the season and JC having his minutes cut is absolutely is just mind numbing... Silas pretty much just simply does not and or cannot do a single thing right. Not even rotations make sense, you can tank without making yourself and the team looking worst than the G-League... I just hope the young good players on the team don't regress because of it.

Stone has given Silas some intriguing assets to deal with, but too bad it seems Silas doesn't know who to play or how to play them. Coaching isn't easy at the NBA level, or at least the key components of top-level coaching being strategy and understanding lineups. Silas has a ways to go with the latter.

Either young Rockets are slow learners or Silas is a poor teacher.

Likely a little bit of both.

Silas is a hs nerd with ambitions and ego to be football star. He just should've become one of the best assistants can you imagine him coaching tough playoff teams with idk Ron Artest on board lol
