Poor guy! Gosh, the only thing worse than actually killing him would be to take him to Abu Ghraib and make him stand naked! The horror! We can kill terrorists but we can't disrobe them!

Not to sound like a liberal or anything, but.....

I don't ENJOY watching our enemies getting killed. Now, I strongly believe we should retaliate against violent attacks against us. But we should never enjoy it.

Real violence, though necessary at times, should never be enjoyed.

And, no, I'm not a hippie (or even much of a liberal for that matter).

Exactly. Of course, our when our President mocks the death of someone when it should be something that one believes is necessary, yet a somber event (death penalty, even if I disagree with it's necessity), is it really surprising that people feel that way.

George W. Bush mocked Karla Faye Tucker's death.

 

I just looked this up... W wasn't president at the time that he did that, but it's still not a good thing to do (especially in front of a camera).

It's not the same as getting enjoyment from watching death, but it's still pretty insensitive to a very serious issue.

Reaching back into the living room, Karla Faye grabbed the first murderous thing she saw, that pick-axe, three feet long and easy to the grip. Effortlessly, she lifted it, and returned to the chamber already smelling of blood. Danny, his senses satiated for the moment, paused to watch what his girl was doing, followed her curious movements as she circled the bed and raised the axe overhead. Now, for the first time; it was his turn to watch her as she swooped the pick in an arc, tearing the blade through the torso of the cowering female. "Let her have it!" he cheered. Seeing that Dean's skull was thoroughly flattened, Danny stood as spectator to Karla Faye's grand performance.

The girl, whom would later be identified as Deborah Thornton, had screamed only once and began to gurgle. The gurgling annoyed Karla Faye, so she gave it to her again and again in the chest, legs, stomach and shoulders. The more the body seemed to quiver, the more Karla Faye struck to stop its trembling. As the carcass turned to mush, blood splattered upward and across the room, onto the murderess.

"Yuck!" she mimicked, but delighted in the sensation. Danny threw a blanket over her head, daring her to hit the target blindfolded. "Like a pinata!" he rooted. And the killing became a game. Under the darkness of the cover, Karla Faye's senses became more acute; she could hear the whoosh of the axe as it fell, could hear the squish-squish of the blade penetrating soft, wet flesh. Ecstasy! Although she denied it later, she would tell friends that the excitement generated a triple orgasm, the likes of which she had never before experienced.

Karla Faye Tucker had busted loose.

When she had finished with Thornton, empowered by the deviancy, she finished off Dean with another twenty blows.

Before they left the scene of the crime, Danny left the pickaxe impaled in Deborah Thornton's heart.

My two cents

Tucker: Putting her to death was the right thing to do for the hanus murders she committed. It was insensitive and politically stupid for then-governor Bush to mock her execution (a very serious situation)

not to derail... Though I believe in the need to respond swiftly and fiercely to attacks against America, I don't feel that we should ever enjoy the killing of our enemies.

I was just discussing with my brother how one of the fundamental differences between our culture and the culture that spawns terrorists like those that have been taping and broadcasting their beheadings lately- is that most people in the U.S. would never celebrate and take joy in the images of even our enemies being killed.

I hope we are correct.

Too true. You will have to repay the karmic debt you build up in this life, no matter the justification used to make it OK with your Earthly superiors.

 

Exactly why people don't argue with you Trader_Jorge. I never defended her, I just don't think it's proper for anyone, especially the leader of our state at the time and now the leader of the free world to mock someone's death or plea for clemency.
