You can actually see the point in the original Hobbit when it ceases to be a Peter Jackson's move and it become a studio exec's movie.

Man.. I want to be excited, but I get such Hobbit vibes from the trailer.

Could be a good or bad thing depending on what you’re looking for.

Well the effects of the trailer leave Wheel of Time in the dust.

Didn’t they have like a $500 million budget for just the first season? The effects better be good.

I wish WOT had the budget this show has (and a different showrunner). I'm not excited but would be happy to be wrong about this show.

The amount of money of $80 million for WOT vs. $500 for this show better give much higher quality.

The story I think is there. It's good. Mostly because nobody knows what the duck Sauron was, how powerful he could be, or his backstory. He remains a mystery to the general movie goer as do the rings. Think this will play better than the Anakin origin story. The CGI will be good not only because they have the budget, but they have three long ass movies that already did half the work.

The big challenge I think will be to stay away from the constant military struggle the books present. We don't care who has advanced where, and who has been repelled where, generally speaking. There's too much of it. They will need to focus on the character development I think and twists and turns they take.

I heard they created a bunch of characters that aren't in the source materials, not sure how I feel about that. I don't know why there's a need for these when Tolkien wrote so many in his books.

That trailer did not look like they spent $462 MM on this show. I'm lowering my expectations now for this one.

Because he left major gaps in his stories....we were doing a game once, that was "Meanwhile back at the ranch" style during the ring quest......and were using a lot of stuff from the simillriliian and still we had to make stuff up ...many many gaps.

In other Tolkien news, the latest episode of South Park is one of their best in a while.

They know their stuff, how to make fantasy.

I am not sure where WOT was filmed but New Zealand, that is blows everything out of water.

    World building is intensely complex.

I saw some teenagers as lead characters.......

Ogiers would look more like creatures than humans.
