Part of me thinks, the Vet presence thing is more than lip service. They talk about things like having Gordon and the other guards (JGreen / KPJ) watch film together. Maybe it's coach teaching, or students slow in learning. This org seems to need Gordon's help to teach. The current direct teacher/student relationship is debatable, and needs tutors. TBH not sure if 5-out is the right fit for this roster, but it's when Silas wants to run, and Gordon know that system well.
My guess is he knows very well he got another year of contract and that expiring contracts are attractive in the trade market any time. He is confident that he could still play 5 years and teams are actually in need of a shooter and defender. He is pretty patient off the court.
Cal McNair is taking the majority of the heat in Houston for being a terrible owner, but Tillman is also really bad.
