When Can the Rockets (realistically) Expect to Make the Playoffs again?

Does the play-in count?

 

Only if we win. If we lose, we're technically not in the playoffs.

 

We won't even begin our upward trend until the season after next.

We will be basement dwellers next year and the following offseason we will have atleast 3 good building blocks Green / and hopefully Chet / Scoot.

We will have massive cap space to bring at least two good impact players, but realistically it will take two more years for our young studs to be good players.

So expect maybe in 25 / 26.

This of course assumes we commit to the damn tank and bottom out, as opposed to keeping veterans out of fear of having too many first round picks. SMDH.

 

This will happen when the current regime is gone…Fertitia, Stone, Silas.

If we get Chet to clean up all our defensive lapses, sooner than you think. Like 2 years for play in/8th seed territory IMO

I went with 2024-2025.

We are still at bedrock in terms of a playoff foundation and hopefully the 2022 season marks the bottom. Even so, very possible the Rockets will be a bottom 10 team for the 2022 season.

 

23-24 if we hit on Chet if not, maybe late 20s.

 

Realistically? I don't think anybody knows. So many random things can happen along the way, but... I'm not even thinking about it for another 2-3 years at least. If, by some miracle, we get there before that, yay? If it takes another 5-10 years... oh well. They get paid and I don't either way.

 

10+ years. The most likely outcome is the front office mucks the draft and picks the more “exciting” Banchero at #3 and he’s another mediocre tweener in the mold of Julius Randle.

As they wallow at the bottom of the league in 2023, Tilman puts pressure on the front office to “win now.” Stone is a poseur so he obliged and splurges all that cap space on overpaid, overrated players on the decline who will raise the Rockets’ sights to mediocrity at best. The cycle continues over and over with the fans only hopes the same as Kings fans: getting embarrassed in the play-in.

Who is the main player you think will lead this team to the playoffs 2 years from now?

 

Wow. Crickets. Man I don’t know. I question the front office long term and ownership always. If Tillman sells the team, I’d be more optimistic

 

We have to take it season by season/draft by draft. Don't really see a free agent super star coming to houston. Daryl Morey is no longer GM. We will see how next year drafts pan out. See if any develop a superstar mentality.

This draft is important and we need to pick at least one of the top 3 players in the draft, I think we need Chet as our Power Forward because he can really help us on the defense side of the game. We need more length so Chet and a taller SF can help our defense. We can score with most of the team right now we just need to focus on defense next year
