What's up with 6'9", 265lb Al Jefferson benching less than 5'10 Jameer Nelson? And if Dwight Howard is athletic, what the Hell is Kris Humphries?
I am 5'7", and I can do atleast 8 reps on a measly 185...then again, I dont have anywhere close to a freaking 40" vert.
Yeah, Deng and Livingston had a tough time with the weight, but htey're (mostly) perimeter players. PETER JOHN RAMOS GOT 2 REPS! And he's 7'3" and at least 275 lbs. That is sad.
When it comes to weightlifting, 5-10, 200 with short arms > 6-9 265 with long arms. The shorter your arms are, the less work you have to do to get the weight up. Avery Johnson, for example, is still one of the strongest guys in the NBA.
Bench press is a useless test for basketball. 7 footers are not built to bench. Most impressive to me were Livingston's agility time and Josh Smith's vertical. Too bad his game and attitude is not as impressive.
What surprises me the most is Andre Iguodala's vertical (34.5"). The man finished second place in high jump in Illinois for god's sake!
I was going to mention that Huby. Iguodala's vertical is way less than advertised. He was said to have put up a 6'-7" vertical jump at a track meet in high school. I thought most of his luster came from his sick athleticism. Maybe he was injured, or didn't warm up. He can only hope.
Just for the record, really tall people traditionally have problems with the bench press from reasons stemming from the length of their arms, though classical mechanics would suggest just the opposite.
Is the time for running 100 meters? If so, it is quite amazing that several guys' time is under 11 sec.
yeah thats true, taller people have a tougher time. But, if a 240lber has a problem putting up 185. thats just inexcusable.
