I'd never considered that They both seem pretty full of themselves to me, but like you, no personal contact My impression of Stone is that he is trying to present himself like Morey, but it rings hollow He boasts without the skins on the wall to back it up Hoping he grows into the role and proves me wrong over the next 24 hours
I don’t want to get another first from this years draft unless we are sending out one in the process . We can’t possibly keep 5 good players who’s contracts all expire at the same time . I would like to see our vision get a Little more aggressive towards improving next year . We will have 4 second year guys , and will have had another top 5 pick . Tate is a ready to go role player and could take another step if his shooting goes up . I don’t think we want to keep wood long term. I think we say he’s core , but he’s not going to become a different player . If that light turns on , I will be surprised . I like the Duncan Robinson and 2 1sts for wood actually . Robinson doesn’t fit great long term , but is a good player to help green, kpj , Jc , Tate , and sengun develop . He can be worth picks or younger prospects if he keeps his shooting form . I don’t know enough about him and how solid he is defensively ... or if he’s getting better to actually say I’d do it ... but 2 1sts is nice too . Same with PJ Washington . In theory seems like a nice prospect , but I don’t know how he actually plays . Gordon is awesome , if he wants to stay then I’d only listen to really good offers and if he wants to go , I’d make sure I deal him . Take your time .. we can try to get multiple players and teams involved . This is stones first real deadline . Last year he was playing catch up and we dealt harden AND WB earlier in the year . if we don’t make any big moves ... I guess I’m ok . But , the time is coming up . Are we really gonna play out next year keeping wood ? Does keeping Gordon hamper green / jc / kpj ? Who do we draft ? The timing is ok to sell now it looks like . If we keep we lose some leverage . I bet wood has a real good year next year . Strikes me as a contract player . Overall expectations for the team are low this year . I hope that expectations are different to START the season next year .. and this years deadline can set the table for that. If they tank again next year I predict fans are ****ed
I was considering making a thread for that 2 hours ago but since nobody even mentioned it till now, I guess I was right in assuming that nobody cares.
Definitely you haven't seen him play Close to 40% from 3. Decent weakside shot blocker Very bouncy Better defender than KJ
I’m not sure Rui is what everybody thinks he is. So far he’s a mediocre inefficient scorer who’s not a good defender He’s mostly potential right now (… and is already 24) he reminds me of a young Tobias and I’m assuming the hope is he is a late bloomer and puts it together offensively one day like Tobias did.
Rui looks really slow this year. Washington definitely is the better target even though I have an affinity for Rui, but man he looks lumbering. Washington, Kai Jones and a FRP for Wood and Armoni Brooks sounds good to me. Washington for Brooklyn lottery Protected and Theis sounds good too.
That deal doesn't work in matching salary without adding a piece to make it 3-for-1 (unless there is some voodoo option not available in the trade machine) Wood makes 13.7 PJ is 4.2 Kai is 2.8 That leaves them 1.7 short to come within 5 aggregate of Wood Even subbing Bouknight for Kai is still 300k off of a match They would need to include a third player under $2M from McDaniels, Martin, Richards, Carey or Thor I like Thor but would probably just waive the rest if forced to take back We could waive Brooks if needed - I'd rather have Thor Would Hornets really want Wood enough to move 3 young, recent picks with upside? And also include another FFRP on top? I am dubious .... That's basically 3 entire draft classes just for 1 guy who may leave in a year
Wood, Nwaba and Brooks for PJ, Kai and Plumlee + a pick. Need to find a third team for Plumlee, which may be tough. Of course a deal isn't likely. I'm just spitballing, not going to worry about what is fair value either way, that's what I see as what I would want to trade Wood. Who I view a lot better than 99% of this board and Rockets fans.
Dipo was not 100% when Stone acquired him. Neither Stone or Silas did their due diligence on him before pulling trigger on that part of trade.
OK that works I like the return haul too My only issue there is we have basically cloned the Theis conundrum with Plumlee PJ and Kai should take all the frontcourt mins opened by Wood We'd then be paying $18M for 2 stiffs to be glued to the bench Still probably worth it for 2 young bigs and another pick
They have Plumlee’s contract. Plumlee/Washington for Wood works (waive Augustin). Awful value for the Rockets of course.
Looking at the clock unless it just hasn’t be announced it’s not happening, 3:00 EST has come and gone.
