Very nice improvement from Nix this year. Hopefully him and Jalen stay in the weight room all summer.
These stats are not current. Super small sample size for lots of these guys. Mason Jones continues to dominate this level of competition, but was also a bucket in college and showed the ability to score on the NBA level despite his limited athleticism so I’m not surprised at all that he’s a G-league superstar. McBride was projected on lots of mocks I saw to be a 1st rounder. The jump Nix has made from last year to this is substantial. He didn’t even look like a worthy G-leaguer let alone an NBA prospect.
This is unrelated, but would you trade Green to OKC to get back the WAS and DET FRPs that we used for the Sengun pick? That’s a fun mental exercise: trading Green for Sengun, in effect…
The post you quoted stated this year so the part about Nix being undrafted is not relevant. McBride is not in the 2022 Draft and already 21. Where are the back half of the FRPs that play in the G League at on this list? If looking at Raptor for rookies in the NBA, Nix (23) ranks one spot lower than McBride despite less time in the league. There are more FRPs lower than Nix than SRPs higher than Nix on Raptor. Granted Nix time in the NBA is a small sample, but your list is filled with guys like McBride who have played 6 or fewer games in the G League so small sample size does not appear to be a consideration to you. Guys that will be in the 2022 draft projected to be FRPs that are in the G League did not make your list. I don't think Nix would be Top 10 in the 2022 draft. 2nd Round after his improvement this year in a weak draft is as big (probably bigger) a hyperbole as Top 10 in 2022. This is not meant that Nix will be all world in the NBA. He looks like a backup PG to me which is better than most of the 2nd half of the FRPs turn into.
Oh, he’ll be a FRP, for sure, probably late lottery. However, this is a purely academic exercise that is unfair to the 2022 draftees. The dude has had a training camp with an NBA team, plus has seen some NBA action. That’s quite invaluable. if he can go back to the draft he’ll shine. He can’t.
Yes, it is academic. However, the Rockets are headed to a roster crunch of guys that aren't great in the NBA, but likely belong in the league. If the Rockets end up adding and keeping a late 2022 FRP, it won't be Nix that gets cut for a late 2022 FRP.
If he’s so good why isn’t he up with the big club????????? Silas obviously doesn’t think he’s NBA level talent after giving him a brief shot. Either Silas sucks or knows his stuff. At this point I see another Jeremy Lin situation developing where the team listens to the head coach and Nix moves on towards stardom elsewhere. Then again…..if you put your trust in Silas, maybe he’s correct on this one (as he was on Mason Jones).
Never underestimate the heart of a wannabe Champion like Harden. He could possibly be the greatest player ever to destroy 2 playoff teams in consecutive years.
He has always been 2 - 3 weeks behind us here on Clutchfans... Of course he broke off years ago, and tried to compete.....so..... DD
No it won't. Let's just see how G League play translates first. It's like you didnt learn anything from the last draft.
Come on, don’t be like that because you’re disappointed in Green. You were super hype about KPJ in the G-League last year and he played ok when he came up as did Josh Christopher when he came back this year. Everybody is different.
KPJ also took some time to heat up after being called up. KPJ was playing like G League MVP and the Vipers had a chance to win the championship until he got called up. But his numbers did not translate immediately and STILL are not at same production/efficoency as when played for Abdelfattah and Vipers.
Well of course his numbers won’t be the same. It’s a much lesser league. Just saying Nix’s numbers are better in every statistical category as I noted a page or two ago and on top of that he’s more efficient. He has elite size for a PG. I think there may be something here. I think he can play WITH KPJ. They could be very switchable defensively and interchangeable offensively.
Are there protections on the picks? If not, then hell yes. Detroit will almost certainly end up with a top 5 pick, but it’s probably protected.
