At the time Stone/Fertita weren't thinking this was a last place team. They were hoping to make noise with Wall + Wood + Dipo (lol) knowing most likely they would lose a mid first rounder to OKC.
yes, that was exactly the case. Small correction however: last year was a swap year not a pick year. we would not lose a pick, OKC would just swap the 18 pick for whatever pick we ended up with between #5 and #17…
Debatable? We had a 52% chance of winning and 48% chance of losing. A ping pong ball rolled our way. That’s not lucky?
I don’t know about “way” more. Even with an almost worst case scenario happening after gambling on an Oladipo bounce back at the time the trade to Miami was made there was a pretty reasonable chance that the swap we got from Miami could have moved us from a late twenties pick to late teens. We didn’t ultimately do anything with them but there was theoretically some potential value in having Olynyk’s bird rights as well. Getting a first that will probably be mid-late twenties, swapping a late second rounder for an early second rounder, getting a second rounder five years from now, and being obligated to pay Rubio a prorated $16.2 million to not play for you is better but it’s not THAT much better.
I'm not too familiar with Levert's game, but the price 1 st and 1 really good 2nd + another 2nd seem steep. I would've liked the Cavs to have gotten Eric Gordon. He's exactly what they need - a very good shooter, good perimeter & team defender and decent dribble driver. I know the rockets are looking for a 1st round pick for Gordon, but would getting their good 2nd round pick back along with 2 other future seconds have been enough?
our second pick is one of the worst players in the nba does it also mean cleveleand will now get a lot better pick because of levert?
nice thinking btw is this also the reason why thesis danuel house nwaba etc were given playing time earlier to the detriment of garuba alperen KJM?
if you sell the house to play the loterry and lose your money it means you were wrong to sell the house and gamble moreover it was wrong even before you sold the house... gambling is not a solution... there is no substitute for hard work...
This is the fan in me talking. Low key happy Gordon didn't go to Cavs. Giving them a Rocket to help Mobley and the Cavs reach their goal even faster. Like seeing you cousin gets hitched to rival family bakery shop from across the street. Mobley is a heck of a player, but seeing Cavs catapult themselves to contention so much faster than the Rockets is a real case of 'heck no'. Sending Gordo to help them?
When I first saw this post, I was hoping it was a reference to the late 80's R&B Group, LeVert! But alas, it is just another bad trade by the Pacers. Anyone want to tell me again how good a coach Rick Carlisle is or how good a GM Kevin Pritchard is?
lol he wouldnt have helped them ....his shot selection is terrible, tunnel visioned, cant dribble more than 2 times without it being a turnover, and will get injured and cold from 3 at the most inopportune moment so yeah!
statistically, per minute, he’s not. But obviously Green has more burst and bounce, which may translate at some point in the future. Mann was the #18 pick, which we would have if we lost the lotto. These two will be linked and compared in the coming years, to evaluate if the tank last year was worth it. Somewhat like Trae/Luka and Fultz/Tatum
I know this was supposed to be your EG analysis but you accidentally described LeVert. Not to mention his horrid defense. And if you think Gordon's injury history is bad then you're in for a real treat with LeVert's.
Bounce only means he is going to be a flashy player. I did not think Tony Parker was flashy or athletic, could not even shoot well, but he always got to his spot. Lol the Spurs team was not even athletic after the Admiral. Back then.
