Started watching game in 2nd half, he had like 3 straight assists, one down low to Timme, which reminded me of a post position Sengun would get. Chet has so many facets to his game and will continue to develop. Dream would be to get him and trade down to grab Griffin.
Holmgren's a cheat code. Darn kid looks like an avatar out there playing basketball lol. I'd be stoked if we were somehow able to draft him as he looks to be both the best fit for us and also the best player. If anything it sounds like a good thing that some may not see just how special he truly is. Hopefully a few GMs feel the same way come draft day. Yes, let him fall to us basketball gods. OKC is dust and DET just lucked out. It's the right thing to do. WTBS I'm not going to get overly attached to any of these cats before we know exactly where we stand. Really just hoping we come away with a top five pick given the woeful season we've had.
Chet has switched quite a bit this season and overall has done a good job. He has handled players trying to physical with him very well this year. There are things I could say he hasn’t been as good with as I had expected (ball handling) but he has handled physical play as well as anyone this year. He is up to like 46% on 3’s this season and it isn’t as if he doesn’t shot many of them. Take his high 3 point percentage, with a 7’6” wingspan, his high efficiency scoring inside, with his ability to cut to the basket and he is going to score in the NBA. He has progressively been playing better as Gonzaga has opened up opportunities for him.
If chets the real deal then this is what he should be averaging He had his best game and paolo his worst If he reverts back to his year averages then I don't think he's number 1, if he keeps this up then it means he has improved big time/got comfortable from earlier in the year and can be offensive and defensive guru
I think the part about being more comfortable is apt. Plus him earning his stripes on a veteran team. Paolo is still a stud. I wouldn’t be mad about him in the least. I just really want a long shot blocker that can change games on defensive and offensive end.
His defensive footwork is extremely impressive. I have seen much stronger players try to knock him off his position unsuccessfully. If he does get bullied he gives ground and still gets the block or changes the shot. I am no longer worried about his thin frame as far as playing defense is concerned, but a little from an injury concern. I hope he is our pick.
Been trying to pay more attention to plays where he's creating against a set defense. I've seen him get plucked or tied up a few too many times to say it's a strength, but we're starting to see more of it as the season goes on, so it'll be interesting to see how it looks around the combine/draft. Mobley didn't look like much of a creator/ISO player in college either. Even if he doesn't improve his handle that much, and the only improvements are getting bigger and stronger (he's already looking..less skinny) he's gonna be dangerous off the roll and baseline spots. On top of being a great floor spacer and shot blocker.
His handle is already really good, guard like ability. It’s contact that affects it, if he does get stronger, watch out league
Switching in college is very different than switching in the pros, and you are describing a very high level 3 and D guy anyway, so I don't know if that is worth picking a guy over Smith who does all of that and more. If you are wanting him to be a rim protector you have to park near the paint and nobody does that except Utah and is he gonna hold up when NBA guys go right at him? Yes he will score in the NBA but will he be the guy in a NBA offense meaning can he create his own shot when everybody is keying on him. We all have what we are looking in a franchise guy and 1st and foremost I want a guy who can create his own shot and then create for others if that guy is available, and I think we have 2 of those guys in Smith and Banchero and you have a potential high level defender in Smith. I have questions on can Smith create his shot at a high level, but you can definitely draw plays for him. Chet is somebody I think would be very valuable on any team and probably has the highest floor because he does certain things at a very high level, but I want somebody who can be the guy or at least a high level 2nd guy.
I don't think averages are a good barometer because Chet is not asked to do as much and is the 3rd or 4th option on that team usually. I would just like to see more than spot up 3's or 3's coming off the break or straight line drives.
